If I'm honest, one of the things kinda bothering me about the trans discourse with Jax is I feel one of the things overlooked in interpretation is the potential interpretation of someone who struggled with identity in a vulnerable state, and ended up stablizing into a point where he was just okay with living his life day to day. The fact that he was still being identified as he in the real life scenes, I left with the interpretation of "Oh well its nice that he did a smarter thing and started focusing on stablizing himself and working on himself as a person if he was too afraid to. I thought it was a healthy message to at least see him getting in a better state and not focusing on gender identity. I thought it was positive because it wasn't just saying "look, Leeroy took a bunch of estrogen and now she's doing great", but instead seemed to have an emphasis on how Leeroy was building better relationships and better friendships on a personal level, regardless of coming out or not.To take all that, and then just say "well look Jax was a female the whole time" and retroactively refer to him with different pronouns, I don't know, it feels a bit insulting to that. The character didn't come out nor want to come out, I thought the whole idea of putting labels on people was the bad idea, yet I feel like that's what's going on here too? People can struggle with those sorts of identity issues and then just not come out or identify as trans, I feel like retroactively saying "Oh, yep, you're trans, if you presented as a women and expressed more it'd be better", I dunno, it wouldn't really help, and overlooks the actual message, intended or not, of Leeroy doing better in life without needing to immediately go on HRT or something after he was homeless.

For whatever reason - whether it's because part of Leeroy was missing from the brain scan or simply because Leeroy and Jax's experiences after the scan diverged so much, Jax was never able to make that leap.
