Patriot, Iron Lad, Wiccan and Hulkling were new teenage heroes that the press dubbed the Young Avengers. After stopping a hostage situation at the wedding of the rich Bishop family, the group went to their hideout of the destroyed Avengers Mansion where they were confronted by Captain America, Iron Man and Jessica Jones. Iron Lad revealed that he was really a teenage Kang the Conqueror who'd used the Visions files to gather some younger heroes in order to confront his adult self so he wouldn't have to grow up to become him. Kate Bishop left the hospital and ran into Cassie Lang who wanted to go to the mansion to retrieve her dad's equipment but it was found she'd seemingly internalized the Pym Particles and grew giant for a brief time.When Kang did appear it was found that Iron Lad not becoming Kang would cause too many changes, including killing Jessica's unborn child, that there was no choice but to make him go with Kang. You never kill yourself and don't come out of it without some kind of trauma. That goes double when you're pretty certain that the guy you just killed, is going to be you inevitably (it isn't, but he doesn't know that).

It's kind of sad that being associated with Bendis meant you were considered a big/great artist during this time. I've never liked Gaydos' stuff and find it to be representative of the general trends of the time at Marvel in a bad way.
