Kang seemed to be victorious and managed to fight off the Young Avengrs but the Vision, resurrected through Iron Lad's armor, appeared and provided enough of a distraction for Iron Lad to surprise and kill Kang. But that caused issues with the timestream as both Hulkling and Wiccan disappeared so Iron Lad had no choice but to return to the future to become Kang and with everything fixed, the Avengers decided to ban the Young Avengers from superheroics. But the team didn't stay inactive for long and regrouped, going after Mr. Hyde where it was revealed that Patriot had liked about getting a blood transfusion from his grandfather, Isaiah Bradley. He'd instead been taking Mutant Growth Hormone and once this revelation was out he decided to quit both the MGH and heroing. Today will be Young Avengers #9-12.Previous >>154466091

>>154480323Eh, Kate is little different here than she is later on. All that's missing is characters falling over themselves to praise her. I personally don't like Robbie. That series was carried hard by Moore's art and once he left you were left with a kind of dull character IMO. The only younger hero from the 2010s that holds up is Gwenpool and that's only the stuff Hastings wrote.

They're grungier, their life sucks, and super suits are kinda stupid so let's keep it simple, you know? Relating to the reader in ways that are easy to understand through a lens specific to cape comics.These days they feel more written for Scholastic book fairs. The kind of books you imagine to be in a book fair, rather than the kind of books you'd often find in them, I mean. I'm not blaming Ms. Marvel or anything for that, but I will say that I feel like she started the trend. The closeness between her introduction and Avengers Arena only lends to my theory.
Issue 12>>154480594There's definitely a connection I think and it's part of why I consider this era ending with the end of Avengers Academy and the main thing is Disney and the MCU I think. A lot of these books and characters are pre-Disney and even ones that came slightly later, like Academy, still carry on that pre-Disney feel and bloodline. The post-Disney characters like Miles, Kamala, etc. are brightier and flashier in their presentation and overall simpler because that's likely viewed as being more marketable and better to adapt for movies, TV, video games and the like. I think it says a lot that plenty of these characters, the Runaways and the Academy X ones especially, still maintain a lot of loyalty while Kamala or Moon Girl don't really command that same fan devotion despite being pushed far more.
Get ready for a bunch of double page spreads in a row. I don't know if it was just to make it seem more epic or if it was simply because it meant less actual writing for Heinberg to do since I'm pretty sure there were delays during this series.

That's it for Young Avengers. Originally it was supposed to keep going with the search for Scarlet Witch but then Heinberg's TV stuff and doing Wonder Woman for DC prevented that so the Young Avengers were in a holding pattern for years until the plans were reworked for Children's Crusade which also took forever to come out and had delays.Next time it's back to Los Angeles for Runaways vol. 2 #1-4.
