>When the voice actor sounds too old and tired for the role.
Imagine being a VA on The Simpsons, that is so painful.
>>154615843Poor Julie Kavner. I wonder if one day her voice will just give out during a session and they'll bring in her replacement.
>>154615843Having not watched The Simpsons in years and years, I was genuinely distressed upon hearing Marge recently. Julie Kavner is very audibly not okay and listening to her makes me anxious. Like I'm about to witness something bad even though it's all prerecorded.
>>154615399It's okay, you can say Toy Story 5
>>154615964Her replacement will be AI
I understand the idea of letting VAs voice a character for as long as they want, they want work, they made the character, I get it.But like, if at some point they genuinely can't make the voice anymore, I feel like the director or the higher ups or whoever should step in and get a replacement.Give them a hefty retirement bonus, a goodbye party, a dedication, and let them train their replacement, but please don't let old VAs continue voicing a character they can't voice anymore.
>>154617012desu no show should be going on so long that that becomes an issue in the first place.
>>154617224That's a completely different problem, but my point is that if companies are going to eternally milk an IP, they should always get new VAa, that's how it is with characters like Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny.
>>154617268This. Tony Anselmo was trained by Clarecne Nash before the latter passed of old age. Why that hasn't started happening with Marge is beyond me. I can't wait to see the side of the internet that doesn't keep up with new episodes freak out when the sequel movie trailer drops
South Park had this issue in season 22 but the voices went back to normal in the next season somehow
>>154617339Matt and Trey would probably be the first to use AI assistance if their voices ever get too rough. They already have a studio specializing in the tech
>>154617388Grim. Not because I don't like AI, but because our stagnant culture will get to continue with another 30+ seasons of the same shows.
>>154617339Must've been covid
>>154615843Lisa's is the only one that sounds okay
So about Tom Kenny's Spongebob laugh as of late?
>>154617012I thought the timing on Charles Martinets retirement was perfect.
>>154620515Same. And I think his replacement is better.
>>154619533that's just her normal voice, so it kinda makes sense
>>154615399>every simpsons character
>>154615399felt this way when Witcher 3 did that new quest a few years ago, and I am not looking forward to the new shit they are going to add
>>154619716Anyone?
>>154615399So any show that's been running consistently for 20 years?
>>154616967prophetic
>>154621345Kill yourself zoomer.
>>154615843Yeah, all that money, and for a job that gives you regular contact with people all the way through retirement...
>>154621345I wouldn't go that far but he is doing a good job.
>>154620515yeah, some people are going to seethe forever, but it was probably time. He had noticeably aged by Odyssey and even Odyssey was a while ago now. You have to let actors retire at some point. Or politely encourage them to, in some cases.
>>154623797what's the point of money if marge is nearly dying to record lines
>>154622934HAS Bart ever owned a bear tho?
>>154621511not Lisa
>>154622919Family Guy and American Dad casts still sound fine to me, though Roger is starting to get a little strained...
>>154615399Over the last year, Tom Kenny's SpongeBob finally started to crack
>hearing modern Billy West in anything
