Last time, the O*N*E Sentinel pilots had been infected with the techno-organic virus and attacked the mansion. The X-Men were able to stop them and Cyclops had Wolverine assemble Warpath, X-23, Wolfsbane, Hepzibah and Caliban into X-Force to track down Cable. They found him in Canada but so did the Reavers and during the fighting Caliban was killed. In the future, Madrox and Layla were looking at the mutant concentration camps, found out that a mutant was the cause of things and were promptly captured and imprisoned.Surge was doubting her role as leader of the New X-Men but her and Prodigy were able to get Cerebra fixed and the Cuckoos were able to use it to locate Cable in Dallas. He headed to Eagle Plaza hoping to be able to get a time machine from Forge but instead found him shot. Cable himself was soon shot too, the perpetrator revealed to be Bishop who seemed poised to kill the baby.Today is Messiah Complex part 3.Previous >>154641524
This is where we start retconning Bishop's past.
>>154653500Time for suffering
X-Factor #27
>it's not enough that they were all depowered and blown up>it's not enough that more of them got killed afterwards>now their bodies are being dug up and eaten by an antagonist monster nobody gives a shit about>not terribly long after this is when Laurie's body gets turned into a "bio-sentinel" or whateverSeriously, it's like Marvel had it in for this entire generation of mutants.
New X-Men #46
Sinister died here, then they did the weird Miss Sinister thing which was him in a cloned female body except not really because Miss Sinister was actually her own person the whole time and not Mister Sinister who was trying to transfer into another body but was defeated and then he just comes back in another clone during Gillen's Uncanny where he's turned into the annoying mincing fop he's been ever since.
Oh hey, it only took until halfway through the last issue of their series for the title characters to show up.
For anyone unaware, Rogue had been in a coma since X-Men #199 when she absorbed a bioweapon called the Hecatomb and the billions of minds it contained.
Thus ends New X-Men... in a crossover where the actual characters barely do anything and on a shot of Cable. Some of this group will move over to the book Young X-Men but that book is awful, written by Guggenheim and no way on earth was I subjecting anyone to that shit.
X-Men #207
Yeah, you'd have thought that the New X-Men and especially Mercury would have played a part in taking care of Predator X, you know give them some sort of closure over everything they'd been through. Sorry, chumps, but Wolverine needs the rub, brother.
>>154653638>>154653671>Last time we see them the in processing is brutal Austwich tier shit>Now they've shrugged it off and are joking and having fun
I hate when books do a blank page. It's not deep or heavy or whatever you think, it's just a wasted page.
Thus ends Messiah Complex and, as seen, New X-Men. This is a pretty big change for the X-Men as they'll relocate to San Francisco and then eventually Utopia off the coast of the city. X-Men will be retitled X-Men: Legacy which will be Carey using the book to essentially rebuild Xavier after all the shit that had been done to him the previous few years. New X-Men is replaced by X-Force and Young X-Men, a new Cable book where he plays Lone Wolf and Cub with Hope starts. X-Factor mostly trucks along unchanged but this whole story with Layla being stuck in Bishop's future takes years to play out.And we won't be seeing most any of that as this. At this point we're also into the post-Civil War period of Marvel which means the SHRA is under effect. So next time, it's off to Camp Hammond for Avengers: The Initiative #1-4.
>>154655063Wait, I messed up. I completely forgot that I still had to finish off Runaways vol. 2. So The Initiative will be delayed by a day and instead, tomorrow, it's Runaways #25-30 which will cover the Joss Whedon run.My mistake.
>>154654081Mugga just read his mind
>>154654880To be fair that was pretty sick
Was fun reading the New X-Men stories, shame how they ended up side characters in their own books.Still hoping for them to fix Rockslide someday
>>154654168Right under the tits!
>>154654424MWAH
>>154654583so is it biting down on Vertigo or? because the chunk it tore out doesn't add up from how Pred X is biting her
>>154655063>X-Factor mostly trucks along unchanged but this whole story with Layla being stuck in Bishop's future takes years to play out.Shoutouts to the Summers Rebellion and Ruby Summers. She sure did exist.Of all the characters to never touch 616, I guess I should be thankful.
>>154656485It's biting her legs.
>>154655539To this day I'm mad that the only time they get to be relevant for years is the next time Magik shows up when they all threaten to curbstomp her and the OG New Mutants talk down to them for it.
>>154657862Hey now, a few of them got to be in that NYX book post-Krakoa that was great if you were really jonesing for a book done in the style of the worst ANAD books from 10 years ago and wanted to see a Kiden Nixon that looked like Gwenpool and was gaybaited with X-23.
>>154655063I hate that the NXM Teens serie's ends on an event book. Just give me one more coda issue. One last time to look through their ruins and pack their bags.
>>154658135And DeFillipis/Weir nearly had the same fate. At least they got the Yearbook issue to close things out though.
