The biggest problem with any hypothetical S2 would be that every character except for Jax and Caine are, frankly, boring, but now Caine lost the parts of his personality that made him interesting and any further Jax development would just involve him becoming like everyone else in the cast.

The only way season 2 works is if it's a full prequel about all the characters before season 1. Like the genesis of the Circus.
At this point, where the series is, having a season 2 that takes place after the finale will require dealing with the abstractions, especially Jax's abstraction. The concept has been explored just enough for Goose to lose the ability to claim they are just a suicide allegory, while also leaving enough room that the idea of bringing people back from abstraction is not a far-fetched idea.Then, of course, the whole issue of Jax's gender will need covering too. I don't trust Goose enough anymore to be able to toe the line between people who want fem Jax and people who want male Jax. If anything, its only going to lead to more drama, but thats just how Goose handled things so it is what it is.Ultimately, Goose left the series in such a state that any potential the show once had was killed in the finale. Its a shame too since the concept had so much potential.
