you know i find funny that these two relationship is portrayed positivily and healthy, meanwhile dave is obviously making fun and loathing tavros advances on him. tavros has kinda of a rivality with dave? i suppose. since he always seems like he either wants to impress dave or OWN him with the slam battles. I've been thinking about it recently and my impression is that this was a comically shitty and failed parallel to Rose vs Kanaya. The girls initially had an antagonistic dynamic and kept verbally sparring before gaining each other's respect and ultimately falling for each other. You can see a similar dynamic here, with the difference is that this enemies-to-lovers development was entirely on Tavros' side because at no point Dave was actually interested in putting up with Tavros' overtures, so whatever this two could have had was doomed from the outset. Even so this preemptively aborted romantic arc was not a total waste of time because it told us a bit about Tavros' romantic preferences

I duplicate the color layer twice, top layer is set to hard mix, middle layer set to color, I merge those two and take the opacity down on the merged layer and then merge with the initials flat color layer. Then I just kind of play around with the colors manually adding texture and scribbles and such
