Last time the Bastards of Evil, youths claiming to be the sons and daughters of supervillains, attacked NYC. Nomad, Araña, Gravity and Firestar attempted to stop them but Warhead, the supposed son of Radioactive Man, suicide bombed Ground Zero. Nomad and Rikki, joined by illegal immigrant and former child soldier Benito Serrano aka Toro, investigated while separately Firestar and Gravity tried to shake down Electro who pointed out that just based on timeline there was no way that Aftershock, leader of the Bastards, could be his kid. Nomad, Araña and Toro fought Ember, supposed son of Pyro, but he escaped when Rikki and Anya attempted to stop Toro from killing him which drove Toro away.Both groups realized that they needed to combine their investigations and agreed to meet to discuss things. But the message that Nomad and Araña received was a fake as they were intercepted by the Bastards who intended to execute them.Today is Young Allies #4-6 plus the backups from Captain America #614-615.Previous >>154865786

Yeah, this unfortunately got cancelled pretty quickly. Firestar was the most recognizable character here which probably didn't help and I assume McKeever's name was mud to readers after Teen Titans so that also didn't help. The Avengers Academy crossover mini also got axed and reworked into a giant-size one shot; I assume preorders were bad but it was already done so might as well just do that. I assume the other project he mentions is Onslaught Unleashed.Both of those will be part of this.

He got fucked over hard by editorial which isn't a shock because for whatever reason Teen Titans has always had very hands on editorial going back to at least the '90s, even Johns had to deal with their meddling and demands like forcing Bart to be Kid Flash or him wanting to add Duela Dent to the roster but nobody told him they were killing her or forcing him to have to bullshit an explanation for what they did to Cass. McKeever himself said that it was so bad Wolfman had to talk him out of quitting the book.I'd say in this book, especially the stuff with Gravity, he's probably channeling some of the frustration with his own recent experience to inform the characters and tone. Kind of different comparing the tone of his works from earlier in the decade when he was a rising star vs. these return issues where DC seems to have broken him.
