Rikki Barnes had come to the 616 universe with no home, no family and no friends. I had kind of thought of storytiming this halfway through Spider-Girl since it takes place before she gets the Spider-Island powers but eh, figured it was better to finish that first.

Issue 3This cover was originally going to be used for Young Allies #7 before that book was cancelled. I highly suspect that some version of this story (presumably without the Onslaught stuff) was intended to be the next arc of that book but once it was cancelled it was reworked into what we're seeing now.

This, of course, is why I included this since it's where Rikki is killed off. She'll get brought back eventually in Future Foundation but really hasn't actually done much since, hasn't even met Anya or any of her other old friends.
The one big weak point of this, besides killing Rikki, is tha Anya doesn't really do anything in this story but considering she has no powers it's kind of hard for her to do anything about Onslaught. Also it's kind of overstuffed with characters as is.
I don't know if the intent was to follow up on this with another Onslaught story but given that after this McKeever's next book is a Fear Itself tie in (which will be part of this series) and then nothing else at Marvel barring some Unlimited comics he did two or three years ago it doesn't really matter. Onslaught won't show up again until Way of X a decade later so ultimately I guess you can say this is just Steve having a bad dream.

>>154943563It's a shame. Tobin was great on MA Spider-Man but his Anya stuff is so bland and uninspired. It's like he was enamored with the social media heroine angle and the in-character IRL twitter account (which is where all the narration was taken from) but forgot to actuall do anything beyond that.
