If there was ever a chance I could save them that means it's probably not a heart attack. those guys just kinda keel over and die its' not at all like the movies and resuscitating a heart attack without EMT or proper defib unit has a low success rate. Anyways, it's not for choking but it's forgivable for lumping CPR chest compressions with Heimlich lung compressions despite them being so different

Often times an open palm thud just below the shoulder blades with increasing intensity while standing is enough to dislodge. If the person isn't making noise, going purple, unconcious or is still not recovering with the lower shoulder blade thuds you can then proceed with the heimlich while EMT is on route. But yeah the worst possible position is lying on their back if the airway is not clear

Do it 5 times, same as before, you're trying to save them not cuddle them so really out your arms into it>Side note: if the person choking is pregnant or a fatso, then yeah press on the sternum because you won’t be able to reach otherwise>If it doesn’t work and they fall unconscious, lay them on the ground, tilt their head back a little bit while raising their chin, and start CPR. Look in their mouth once in a while (every 30 moves or so) to check if they’re spitting out what was choking them. If they do get your fingers in here and pull it out

Although those were doomsday cultists and said the same thing about college and the UN.
