I.feelblikrnthr movie didn't do a great job tackling the spider hormones thing. It kept treating it like a counter evolution to Jean's powers. But Jean was born with them. She is a mutant. That is her species. Peter has powers copied from s different species by accident and his body isn't designed for it. He is going through a SECOND puberty because his spider half is becoming an adult. Thst implies that this isn't natural at all. His body is basically deformed. My own position is that even comic jean only looks relatively good compared to the utter circus that is the X-Men. MCU Jean is just straight up a villain.

This made them turn into household names. So they just kept doing that....however, it's simply not enough to be grimdark anymore. Everyone is grimdark these days. So the X-Men kinda need actual good writing, except the only reason they went grimdark at all is because they have bad writers.
