Heather Antos, the editor on this book, apparently has said that Marvel did not really like Unbelievable because it wasn't what they wanted from the character which was "LOL memes". It's a case of them not understanding or caring about what made people like the character in the first place because it goes against the preconstructed box they wanted her in. Thanks for the storytime OP. At the start of the tournament I was just hoping Gwen would make it to round 4, that's the furthest she'd ever made it. When she made E8 I was thrilled but figured that would be where she would lose. Even today I didn't think Gwen would ever actually win. I figured she'd get next year off and then I'd go back to campaigning in 2028. I'm glad her perfect attendance ended with her winning the whole thing.

Thank you for this final storytime, anon. It was a joy to re-read the series earlier in spring in accordance with her 10th Anniversary and it's just as much fun to reread it now.
I love this story so much. Gwen comes so far from where she started in #0 in growing as a person and feeling connections for other people. At the start of the series they barely mattered, now she's shedding tears knowing her cancelled friends might be gone forever. And in a way every year they don't appear makes this ending feel all the more accurate. I love the last two issues especially, the heist with Batroc is my favorite standalone issue of the series but the ending just feels more poignant with each year. I'm sad this series got cancelled but the ending we got out of it is genuinely touching and makes it so memorable.

Also HOLY SHIT she actually won so way to go for /ourgirl/!

I'll be honest, I've only had a surface-level understanding of Gwenpool, so after finally reading her comic in these threads, I know now what makes her so special.
It's a damn shame this run had to end so soon, her interactions with both M.O.D.O.K.s, Cecil, and the rest of the supporting cast were a joy to read. Honestly, I wished we spent time with Team M.O.D.O.K. more, but with only 25 issues, it was inevitable that it had to be cut short for the rest of her story.
I would've loved to see how Gwenpool's concept could be fully realized without editorial breathing down everyone's necks. Honestly, her interactions with lower-tier characters (at least, I'm pretty sure some were lower-tier, I'm not much of a comic reader) were more enjoyable than the ones with more "popular" characters. I think it's more interesting that way and shows off her comic knowledge more.

same, Gwen's supporting cast is great. I like how the book manages to establish its own set of characters for Gwen so it feels like it stands on its own legs rather than overly depending on bigger heroes.

It's a bit chunky animation but it is a passion project of one very dedicated Gwenfag. I think the starting introduction is a bit much but I'm guessing it was deemed necessary for quickly introducing Gwen to potential new watchers, and they're tongue-in-cheek about it on the storyboard. I thought it had really funny uses of her meta powers for the animation, and while extremely abbreviated it captures one of the most important themes of Unbelievable which is finding meaning in things you don't think are important at first.

Been checking out these comics for a couple days now and they’re pretty good, I like ‘em. I appreciate the effort Gwenposter went through to compile them all for anons to read, with that kind of dedication it’s no wonder Gwenpool won her fans are on another level!

When people think of Gwenpool fondly, they're almost always thinking of her as written by Christopher Hastings in The Unbelievable Gwenpool, what these storytimes have been. This is her original arc, the one that establishes her character/arc that people enjoy. But after that run, Hastings never came back to write Gwen again and all her other writers seem to have a very hard time grasping the Gwen he created.
You're free to read any of them if you want more Gwen but just know none of them hold a candle to her first run. Here's the major ones / my thoughts on them.
>Kelly Thompson, 'West Coast Avengers' (2019)
Gwen's first/only team book featuring her tagging along with Kelly's favorite Kate Bishop. I think this book is just okay, it is neither great nor disastrous. Gwen just doesn't have much to do in it, her only significant contributions are A) a fairly forced romance with Quentin Quire no one likes that much and B) introducing her pet land shark Jeff, who has since propelled past Gwen into becoming more popular than her.
>Leah Williams, 'Gwenpool Strikes Back' (2020)
Gwen's first five-issue mini after Unbelievable ended. Leah writes a very memey Gwen. She won't stop talking to the audience, cracking jokes, she is especially manic in a way she wasn't in Unbelievable (and doesn't make much sense after her arc in that book). The first three issues are pretty bad but, IMO, it ends on a strong note. There's a twist that retroactively explains why she's acting so ADHD in the first few issues that I think works out, but it doesn't really justify the first few issues.

This is a mobile only run for the 'Love Unlimited' series which is an online comic featuring romances. When people think of Gwen's lowest point, they probably think of this comic. I'm of the opposite opinion I had with GSB, I think this book starts out alright and then plummets into the abyss with the final act. Jeremy also has Gwen talking to the camera nonstop but has some moments where he seems to have good ideas for her in the first few parts, but this is the comic where she comes out asexual and the whole of the last comic is just a pamphlet about asexuality.
>Cavan Scott, 'Gwenpool' (2025)
Better than Love Unlimited though that's not saying much, but the more I hear about this run the more I think I'm too hard on its writer. I keep reading interviews where he wanted to use a lot more from Unbelievable but kept getting blocked by the editor. But that said this one isn't that great either. Cavan doesn't have her talking to the camera but she similarly sounds OOC with how many cracks she's making a second, save for her inner-monologues which actually sound decent. This is the one that was going to bring back the 'real' Gwen Stacy as a new, dark Gwenpool to come into conflict with Gwen Poole. It has an interesting final twist but the lesson is literally something she already learned in Unbelievable dressed differently. I'm not sure if I like it more or less than GSB I rank them about even.

She also has some quick appearances in other runs that I think are worth reading

Champions is really 'IRL social issues' charged but Gwenpool appears for one issue that I think is funny because she wants nothing to do with it.

The West Coast Avengers show up for two issues but in that time the writer does Gwenpool IMO the best since Hastings, it's not really a lot to do for her but it stood out to me as feeling like someone who actually grew from the experience of her first book.

I will say I do prefer GSB > GP 2025 thinking on it. GSB's ending kind of saves it for me, GP25 has its moments but it's frustrating considering the marketing that went into it.

It's Jeff is a mobile comic primarily starting Gwen's pet doing cute shenanigans. There really isn't much of anything regarding substance here, it is complete fluff but Gwen appears regularly and always drawn by Gurihiru. It barely has a narrative but it's cute and shows Gwen in a domestic life style a lot that you don't usually see. I keep my eye out for it for the art.

Jeff also gets larger issues with dialogue sometimes that Gwen appears in. Again there isn't a lot of substance and it's kind of cutesy as Kelly goes for but she's written fine in it.
