They literally can't take place in the same universe, the X-Men one is just regular X-Men but Vampires, the Spider-Man one is body horror that refrences Russia, Syria, and modern politics in 2026, while the Fantastic Four one is that Sam Neil space horror movie Event Horizon. They don't mesh at all.

So this is just X-Men, but a bunch of them got turned into vampires? That's boring, at least have mutants have some weird gimmick, like cannibalistic urges for normal humans, or mutations getting more morbid and uncontrollable with time.

>>
>>155778785
The Catholic church are the main bad guys because they want to kill vampires which prey on innocent people, and Hickman wrote a decades worth of comics glorifying Mutant ethnostate Israel, he's a horrible person with horrible values.

Hickman clearly has an interest in Catholicism; his first comic was Pax Romana were a bunch of Catholics use a time machine to make sure the Roman Empire never falls so Europe doesn't fall to Islam.
He was also the guy that pushed for the Christian-inspired mutant religion run by Kurt during Krakoa, since no one was interested in that plot, Spurrier is a proper Fedora tipper that backpeddled on that narrative point as soon as he could

You have no media literacy and lack the ability to actually understand where a wokester like Hackman is coming from. You are mentally the same as fans who kept coping about how Lanterns and HBO's Watchmen were building up to something good.

If Hackman actually thought Krakoa was a bad thing, he would have made that clear through the actual plot and he would have finished his story showing it was bad, he had plenty of time to do so.

I mean, given that he intended krakoa to be an act 1 of 3, its pretty clear lol. Never seen either show though, zero intrest. And again, hickman doesnt use cap as a vague stand in for the white man, he uses him consistently as uncompromising (to his own/others detriment) morality. In a world of greys the guy who sees black and white. And with reed, he consistently wanks the hell out of him, have you read ANYTHING else by hickman?

Dunno man, so much of krakoa under him had sinister understones, that were all removed when he left, says a lot.
>>
>>155779448
I thought it was because vampires are associated with bats, and bats only go out at night.
>>
>>155779462
I've never read a single Hickman comic, I just see threads about his stuff and listen to the type of faggots in the comic book store glazing him and make my judgement based on that. Life is too short to read crap for idiots.
>>
>>155778758
It really feels like a waste of time, the sort of thing you'd use for a what-if, or an Exiles arc. It doesn't even mesh well with the other titles in the line since they fundamenrally alter the characters with major changes to origins and powers. Mutations here didn't change, they just tackled vampirism on top, not even as part of mutations, they just turned them into vampires.

How did anyone approve such a flimsy concept? So many interesting ways they could have taken this, and they went with somwthing boring.
>>

>>
>>155778639
I don't read much of Hickman, but does he always use those exposition texts and pages? I remember from Krakoa X-Men and then in the Ultimate universe
>>
>>155779558
Spider-Man is really less different than the last one and of the three X-Men is the one that feels most competently written, so I don't think that actually matters much.
>>
>>155779506
So..you dont know how he angles characters? Like he's very clear that he writes cap as morally right lol.

>>155779558
Spider-man is just spider-man 2099 but he's younger. And FF is just ultimate/2015 but creeepier. These are all pretty derivative of past concepts.
>>
>>155779597
Yeah, this is what-if fodder. I can't imagine this lasting long. I still remember how DC had their Vampire kick a few years ago, and despite lasting a good bit, they ran out of ideas by issue 4 and the rest is them scrounging up ideas that barely held it together.

> he would have made that clear through the actual plot and he would have finished his story showing it was bad, he had plenty of time to do so.
He did. In his last arc he revealed that Moira's successful Krakoa committed AI Genocide on a universal-wide scale and that's why Omega Sentinel pulled a Days of Future Past of her own. He had Omega Sentinel echo Magneto's own words to the ambassadors from the first issue back to him. Hickman doesn't believe in heroes, most of his characters are selfish or pragmatists or morally compromised to some extent. His Avengers run ended with Cap and Iron Man beating each other until a Shield helicarrier dropped on top of them. His USM ended with Gwenstyrio replacing Wilson Fisk.
>>155779462
LaVelle and Gillen criticized Krakoa as Hickman built it more than anyone.
>>
>>155779688
She does. It's that she's wearing her Dark Phoenix outfit so I'm trying to see how she's getting overpowered by vampire Storm.
>>
>>155779444
That's just lightface.
>>
>>155779676
Cap was not morally right when he spent the last moments of his life beating up a guy he was mad at, and the helicarrier coming down on top of both of them while they were too busy fighting each other is the period on that.
>>
So, will HACKman be able to finish this properly this time?
>>
>>155778575
>>155778586
To be fair, we know nothing about this world except that a bunch of mutants and Reavers are vampires. Magneto might have a healthier relationship with them here.
>>

I think I may read this one, if for no other reason than they did my man Scott good for once, and Kurt Wagner is still a man of faith and hope.

Though they probably melted down the entire Project X for antivamp weaponry. Or worse that's why they made the weapon X project. I'm with the folks who aren't trusting Hickman though. Scott's gonna get vamped and Havoc is a living sunbeam projector and fries him.

>>
It was fine, I guess. But like others said it's such a painfully basic premise. A premise which is kind of ripped off from the later issues of DCVampires, IIRC.
>>
>>155779819
Hickman's writing was passive aggressive as hell when it came to Cap. He was forced to write Cap as morally right.... In theory. But he had everyone from the illuminati to Kang to Sunspot and Sue Storm lecture Cap that morality and ethics were for losers and bastards who kill were the ubermensch and should be worship/allow to rule things

And Cap's action at the end of the runs out was the closest to a happy ending would be allowed as Reed made it clear he was going to put Tony on the life raft cone hell or high water.

Honestly I was expecting it to be the weakest one. Vampire are in the normal Marvel universe so why should we care about a special different universe version of that? It does seem to be setting it up to be more like a World Of Darkness style thing with clans and different factions within the vampire clans though so maybe it'll have a decent political machinations angle to it, but currently I think it's the weakest Midnight story.

>>155780371
Because that covers the three basic genres of horror fiction: Cosmic Horror, Ancient Undeath, and Body Horror created by man's stupidity. Call of Cthulhu, Dracula, Frankenstein. Where it ends is the real question, and that's going to be hard to manage whout fuckign it up with this type of tale. Subversion isn't going to take them far enough, and too far it's be Bad End ever time. (Which might be acceptable for FFmidnight, but not SMM or XMM.)
>>
Call me when Blade shows up. Until then, I don't care.

>>
>>155780392
Remember that Blade had glyphs, clans, and factions among the undead too, as well as 'purebloods' and 'made vamps.' Comic books and movie alike. I suspect that somewhere alogn the way they tried to turn a mutant to try and infuse soem strength into vampuires, maybe get soem new power in their blood, and it backfired horribly enough that the vampires are using tech to upgrade themselves.

Which suggests Forge may have been Turned.

I mean, they can change things up, obviously, it's not a problem, but there's something funny about making a parody of American religious extremism a christian denomination that those same extremists frequently think of a evil illuminati pagans.

Gambit and Storm were pretty good here. Storm was a major improvement compared to how Hickman wrote her in the past, and I don't remember Hickman writing Gambit.

I also liked Cyclops,Nightcrawler, and Magneto here. I'd say those were characters who might've been among his favorites. Sunspot has potential in a series like this.

I'm looking forward to what Hickman does with Hope. I imagine she'll be connected to Jean/Phoenix in some way.

I think hickman used storm well enough in krakoa. Gambit felt a bit generic, but point.

>Hickman revealed that while a crossover plan exists, Marvel is intentionally keeping the series separate up front to protect the unique identity of each title.

>Hickman emphasized that allowing each creative team—Phillip Kennedy Johnson (Spider-Man), Benjamin Percy (Fantastic Four), and himself (X-Men)—room to establish distinct identities is top priority:

>We have a plan for how the books are gonna touch,” Hickman explained. “I would not expect that in the first ten months, but sometime around then perhaps we’re gonna do something that might be pretty cool and the books might start, you know, lightly touching each other.”
Unless he's dead wrong, yes it's a shared universe. They're just not going to acknowledge each other at all for the first year.
>>
>>155779281
He also revealed that some x-men had been secretly factory reset during resurrection, then gave us a scene with F4 saying Krakoa is wrong and Cyclops saying he didn't care, the new way is us vs. you.

So i thought "mutants" were going to be replaced with "vampires with powers" in this. But its not?? There are some mutants who are vampires and some mutants who are NOT vampires? Are there humans who are vampires too then? I think my idea would have been better. And then Apocalypse could be "the first vampire" like dracula from blade 3.

Catholic Church is most often defaulted to as the opposition for these kinds of horror stories for a number of reasons. It has lengthy history, with the medieval history alone being steeped in the blood of the Crusades, and even in modern days Vatican City is an independent City State governed by the church. Super rich with massive secured libraries and artifact vaults, perfect for having esoteric forbidden texts or supernatural weapons, etc. They even field their own armed forces. Aw yeah, pikemen comin' atcha! Halberd style activate! Seriously just ask Archer, he knows.

Same basic shit had Van Wolverine as a James Bondish guy hunting evil for the Pope. It's really not a bad trope, I suppose. They do have hefty resources, provide the appropriate atmosphere, and have a shady past (and present) that can be used to justify just about anything. You really don't get quite the same kick by having Evangelicals "secretly" running the US government, even if that gives them access to everything up to and including nukes. They're better for small scale creeps with shady as shit baptist preachers taking power in small communities leading to the rise of the One Behind the Rows, or some shit. Within the US you get more punch with secret groups leading back to the Founding Fathers, some Freemasonry or Illuminati type bullshit.

Speaking of Catholicism and tropes, I love when "real ghosthunter" shows have the investigators freaking out when they discover upside down crosses, claiming Satanists must have been there. Yeah, that or Catholics.
>>
>>155784693
Archer knows that they left the Halberd and traded it for modern Swiss Army troops and equipment
>>
>>155778475

>>
>>155778425
I find it amusing that after the whole Blade blots out the sun shit that left the world with a sizable vampire population, the main comics line has basically abandoned that plot, so now we're getting Marvel Vampires II: AU Boogaloo.

>>
>>155784693
Oh I'm not confused as to why the Catholics are here, just commenting about how it might elide some readers just how different this makes this Stryker, or should make him. Of course, making Stryker very different isn't exactly new ground either.

In principle, it's an obvious change with this peculiar set up: Catholics fight the eternal war against vampires, Stryker the eternal war against mutants. If you're fighting mutant vampires, then get yourself a Catholic Stryker.

Speaking of mutants and vampires, Jubes has to show up at some point, right?
>>
>>155784768
Was that run really so popular as to justify an X-Men stand-alone vamp ongoing?
>>
>>155784937
I get the feeling most of the mutants that have powers that are the most effective against vampires will probably be on team TVD if not already killed outright because of that fact, Jubilee's plasma bursts make her extremely dangerous.
>>
>>155784937
I feel a strong urge to have her dressed like a jiangshi, but that would probably be racist since everyone is an Eastern European type of vampire and she's extremely modern American. Like anything more than her jacket just having oversized sleeves probably shouldn't happen.

Not wanting a core part of their character removed does not equal to wanting it to be their entire character.
Pietro's best stuff came in x titles (written by Peter David) and his angst about being a mutant was part of his characterisation on the avengers dating back to the 70's.

Cyclops is jaded vampire hunter who will mentor young girl who will teach 'stupid jaded fat fuck' that there is still hope (Ha Ha) for them so Cyclops will sacrifice himself to let her escape before the story reaches the middle section.

Thriller ass ending.

It's decent enough, but at the same time I still don't yet see why this needs to exist besides having an obligatory X-Men book in the line. It's more of a What If? than a proper AU like the other Midnight books. The changes are extensive, but mostly in the past and way too mystery box-esque to be enjoyable. Ironically the gore didn't seem nearly as excessive as the other books, but still felt like shock value.

I'll check in from time to time, but it's still the least exciting book of the line.
