>>155778564It's hilarious to me that people like you actually exist.
>>155778597They're all separate universes with no connection to one another lol.
>>155778618Marvel has been really inconsistent on that since I've also heard they take place in the same universe
>>155778656They literally can't take place in the same universe, the X-Men one is just regular X-Men but Vampires, the Spider-Man one is body horror that refrences Russia, Syria, and modern politics in 2026, while the Fantastic Four one is that Sam Neil space horror movie Event Horizon. They don't mesh at all.
So this is just X-Men, but a bunch of them got turned into vampires? That's boring, at least have mutants have some weird gimmick, like cannibalistic urges for normal humans, or mutations getting more morbid and uncontrollable with time.
>>155778688This Cykes gives zero fucks.>>155778712Spider-Man did mention mutants, so it's possible if all the vampire stuff is low profile I guess. FF could dit anywhere that has rockets.

>>155778575>>155778586>Yet another AU where not only are they his children they actually act like a family and call him father
>>155778785Hickman clearly has an interest in Catholicism; his first comic was Pax Romana were a bunch of Catholics use a time machine to make sure the Roman Empire never falls so Europe doesn't fall to Islam. He was also the guy that pushed for the Christian-inspired mutant religion run by Kurt during Krakoa, since no one was interested in that plot, Spurrier is a proper Fedora tipper that backpeddled on that narrative point as soon as he could

You are mentally the same as fans who kept coping about how Lanterns and HBO's Watchmen were building up to something good.If Hackman actually thought Krakoa was a bad thing, he would have made that clear through the actual plot and he would have finished his story showing it was bad, he had plenty of time to do so.

>>155779335I mean, given that he intended krakoa to be an act 1 of 3, its pretty clear lol. Never seen either show though, zero intrest. And again, hickman doesnt use cap as a vague stand in for the white man, he uses him consistently as uncompromising (to his own/others detriment) morality. In a world of greys the guy who sees black and white. And with reed, he consistently wanks the hell out of him, have you read ANYTHING else by hickman?Dunno man, so much of krakoa under him had sinister understones, that were all removed when he left, says a lot.
>>155779448I thought it was because vampires are associated with bats, and bats only go out at night.
>>155779462I've never read a single Hickman comic, I just see threads about his stuff and listen to the type of faggots in the comic book store glazing him and make my judgement based on that. Life is too short to read crap for idiots.
>>155778758It really feels like a waste of time, the sort of thing you'd use for a what-if, or an Exiles arc. It doesn't even mesh well with the other titles in the line since they fundamenrally alter the characters with major changes to origins and powers. Mutations here didn't change, they just tackled vampirism on top, not even as part of mutations, they just turned them into vampires. How did anyone approve such a flimsy concept? So many interesting ways they could have taken this, and they went with somwthing boring.
I'm trying to figure out how tf Glob and Jean got turned
>>155779462Bro stop you're getting baited by a troll
>>155779558Literally the same cast of characters with apparently the same backstories too, Scott, Gambit, Magneto, Nightcrawler, Storm, they're all just... How they always are?

>>155778639I don't read much of Hickman, but does he always use those exposition texts and pages? I remember from Krakoa X-Men and then in the Ultimate universe
>>155779558Spider-Man is really less different than the last one and of the three X-Men is the one that feels most competently written, so I don't think that actually matters much.
>>155779506So..you dont know how he angles characters? Like he's very clear that he writes cap as morally right lol.
>>155778709Oh it's Hope, nice to see her here.
>>155779571Jean has skin, no?
>>155779558Spider-man is just spider-man 2099 but he's younger. And FF is just ultimate/2015 but creeepier. These are all pretty derivative of past concepts.
>>155779597Yeah, this is what-if fodder. I can't imagine this lasting long. I still remember how DC had their Vampire kick a few years ago, and despite lasting a good bit, they ran out of ideas by issue 4 and the rest is them scrounging up ideas that barely held it together.
>>155779335> he would have made that clear through the actual plot and he would have finished his story showing it was bad, he had plenty of time to do so.He did. In his last arc he revealed that Moira's successful Krakoa committed AI Genocide on a universal-wide scale and that's why Omega Sentinel pulled a Days of Future Past of her own. He had Omega Sentinel echo Magneto's own words to the ambassadors from the first issue back to him. Hickman doesn't believe in heroes, most of his characters are selfish or pragmatists or morally compromised to some extent. His Avengers run ended with Cap and Iron Man beating each other until a Shield helicarrier dropped on top of them. His USM ended with Gwenstyrio replacing Wilson Fisk.>>155779462LaVelle and Gillen criticized Krakoa as Hickman built it more than anyone.
>>155779688She does. It's that she's wearing her Dark Phoenix outfit so I'm trying to see how she's getting overpowered by vampire Storm.
>>155779444That's just lightface.
>>155779676Cap was not morally right when he spent the last moments of his life beating up a guy he was mad at, and the helicarrier coming down on top of both of them while they were too busy fighting each other is the period on that.
So, will HACKman be able to finish this properly this time?
>>155778575>>155778586To be fair, we know nothing about this world except that a bunch of mutants and Reavers are vampires. Magneto might have a healthier relationship with them here.
>>155779746Eh gillien was focused more so on fixing it, though he did critique it.>>155779819That is true. Just that relatively he has the moral highground.
>>155778436Remember>good set-up>interesting ideas>terrible fumble of an ending>cope about how it was the evil editors who ruined and that the NEXT Hickman project will be a 10/10 masterpiece

>>155778425>>155778527Feel like this could've just been a Blade book given it's context
I think I may read this one, if for no other reason than they did my man Scott good for once, and Kurt Wagner is still a man of faith and hope.Though they probably melted down the entire Project X for antivamp weaponry. Or worse that's why they made the weapon X project. I'm with the folks who aren't trusting Hickman though. Scott's gonna get vamped and Havoc is a living sunbeam projector and fries him.
>>155778613no fangs on glob?
>>155780062Doesn't need them. Or he might not even be a vampire. He might just like eating people.
It was fine, I guess. But like others said it's such a painfully basic premise. A premise which is kind of ripped off from the later issues of DCVampires, IIRC.
>>155779819Hickman's writing was passive aggressive as hell when it came to Cap. He was forced to write Cap as morally right.... In theory. But he had everyone from the illuminati to Kang to Sunspot and Sue Storm lecture Cap that morality and ethics were for losers and bastards who kill were the ubermensch and should be worship/allow to rule things And Cap's action at the end of the runs out was the closest to a happy ending would be allowed as Reed made it clear he was going to put Tony on the life raft cone hell or high water.
>>155779924Latin was the proper language for the clergy for centuries. If they are playing up the catholic church as a proper "faction", it makes complete snese.

>>155779883I liked HickUSM. It wasnt perfect, but i enjoyed it. And his FF run was executed great. His avengers i didnt love but secret wars was a phenomnal epilogue. Not a fan of krakoa, but that is very clearly not his stuff.
That was dumber than a bad episode of True Blood, Why Vampires? Are they sick of hammering in the gay allegory?
>>155778661YO MR SUMMERS!!>>155778680>>155778688YEAH GEOGRAPHY BITCH!
>>155780371Because x-men has a lot of connections to vampires, with storm, wolverine and jubilee having been vampires at different times.
>>155780364....you have given me tentative hope. I appreciate it.
>>155778758Honestly I was expecting it to be the weakest one. Vampire are in the normal Marvel universe so why should we care about a special different universe version of that? It does seem to be setting it up to be more like a World Of Darkness style thing with clans and different factions within the vampire clans though so maybe it'll have a decent political machinations angle to it, but currently I think it's the weakest Midnight story.
>>155780360No one owes you a gentle handjob.
>>155780371Because that covers the three basic genres of horror fiction: Cosmic Horror, Ancient Undeath, and Body Horror created by man's stupidity. Call of Cthulhu, Dracula, Frankenstein. Where it ends is the real question, and that's going to be hard to manage whout fuckign it up with this type of tale. Subversion isn't going to take them far enough, and too far it's be Bad End ever time. (Which might be acceptable for FFmidnight, but not SMM or XMM.)
Call me when Blade shows up. Until then, I don't care.
>>155780387One thing 100 for sure, do not expect x-men outside of hickman's clear favorites to get much attention/spotlight.
>>155780392Remember that Blade had glyphs, clans, and factions among the undead too, as well as 'purebloods' and 'made vamps.' Comic books and movie alike. I suspect that somewhere alogn the way they tried to turn a mutant to try and infuse soem strength into vampuires, maybe get soem new power in their blood, and it backfired horribly enough that the vampires are using tech to upgrade themselves. Which suggests Forge may have been Turned.
>>155778661Cyclops got turned into Walter White.
>>155780295Only because of Cap. Reed would have used violence against him to get Tony on board, even knowing he had been turned evil in Axis
>vampires are weak to adamantiumSo, how much is this going to use for a wolverine scene?
>>155780498Wolverine/Project X is probably the Church's project. I can't see the Church using Sentinels. Also, martyred mutants would fit Stryker's MO.
having now read all 3 midnight books, incredibly surprised how much I liked them, hopefully marvel gives the creative teams enough runway to really swing for the fences

>>155780498>>155780521it'd be so funny to be expecting Logan and through whatever butterfly effect has caused this disruption in event he didn't get the adamantium treatment and it's someone else like Victor, who else has a strong enough healing factor that could tank the process?
>>155778482Oh right Hickman had a thing for Magma back when he wrote the X-Men in the original Ultimate line
>>155780622Deadpool
So I'd probably say X-men is the best one. And that's not me praising it so much as but it does have one thing the others didn't. SOMETHING ACTUALLY FUCKING HAPPENED!
>>155780622Now, I could see that, especially if Logan and clones are basically the werewolves to the X-Men vampires.
>>155778458I feel like it's misunderstanding a bit of Americana to have Stryker be a Catholic Cardinal. I mean, they can change things up, obviously, it's not a problem, but there's something funny about making a parody of American religious extremism a christian denomination that those same extremists frequently think of a evil illuminati pagans.

They're just not going to acknowledge each other at all for the first year.

>>155778558Is it evil to want all vampires destroyed? Sounds like just common sense to me.
>>155778661I was wondering what the point of sending Empath to this fight was, but this is the perfect use for him.
>>155781639Stryker is the one X-Men villain who is never given any depth, he's just an evil stand-in for whatever the writers view as evil in society today.
>>155778482Glad to see Magma getting some attention, she's basically forgotten most of the time. I enjoy the fact that Hickman and I seem to have very similar taste in pet characters. Magma, Monet, Captain Britain are some of my absolute faves and he's about the only guy to give them any love.
So i thought "mutants" were going to be replaced with "vampires with powers" in this. But its not?? There are some mutants who are vampires and some mutants who are NOT vampires? Are there humans who are vampires too then? I think my idea would have been better. And then Apocalypse could be "the first vampire" like dracula from blade 3.

>>155780676Catholic Church is most often defaulted to as the opposition for these kinds of horror stories for a number of reasons. It has lengthy history, with the medieval history alone being steeped in the blood of the Crusades, and even in modern days Vatican City is an independent City State governed by the church. Super rich with massive secured libraries and artifact vaults, perfect for having esoteric forbidden texts or supernatural weapons, etc. They even field their own armed forces. Aw yeah, pikemen comin' atcha! Halberd style activate! Seriously just ask Archer, he knows.Same basic shit had Van Wolverine as a James Bondish guy hunting evil for the Pope. It's really not a bad trope, I suppose. They do have hefty resources, provide the appropriate atmosphere, and have a shady past (and present) that can be used to justify just about anything. You really don't get quite the same kick by having Evangelicals "secretly" running the US government, even if that gives them access to everything up to and including nukes. They're better for small scale creeps with shady as shit baptist preachers taking power in small communities leading to the rise of the One Behind the Rows, or some shit. Within the US you get more punch with secret groups leading back to the Founding Fathers, some Freemasonry or Illuminati type bullshit.Speaking of Catholicism and tropes, I love when "real ghosthunter" shows have the investigators freaking out when they discover upside down crosses, claiming Satanists must have been there. Yeah, that or Catholics.
>>155784693Archer knows that they left the Halberd and traded it for modern Swiss Army troops and equipment
>>155778475Ohhh, so THAT is the Sword of Faith on his belt. Makes total sense.
>>155778425I find it amusing that after the whole Blade blots out the sun shit that left the world with a sizable vampire population, the main comics line has basically abandoned that plot, so now we're getting Marvel Vampires II: AU Boogaloo.

>>155784693Oh I'm not confused as to why the Catholics are here, just commenting about how it might elide some readers just how different this makes this Stryker, or should make him. Of course, making Stryker very different isn't exactly new ground either. In principle, it's an obvious change with this peculiar set up: Catholics fight the eternal war against vampires, Stryker the eternal war against mutants. If you're fighting mutant vampires, then get yourself a Catholic Stryker.Speaking of mutants and vampires, Jubes has to show up at some point, right?
>>155784768Was that run really so popular as to justify an X-Men stand-alone vamp ongoing?
>>155784937I get the feeling most of the mutants that have powers that are the most effective against vampires will probably be on team TVD if not already killed outright because of that fact, Jubilee's plasma bursts make her extremely dangerous.
>>155784937I feel a strong urge to have her dressed like a jiangshi, but that would probably be racist since everyone is an Eastern European type of vampire and she's extremely modern American. Like anything more than her jacket just having oversized sleeves probably shouldn't happen.
>>155780608When anywhere else has people who are stupid enough to buy and/or read comics
>>155778545Sounds like someone got really into Vampire The Masquerade
>>155778545>And if you hear one of them say, "Tzimisce" for the love of god, don't let them take you alive.
>>155784989Shit comes in cycles. Zombies get big, then fade. Vampires get big, then fade. I think they're just testing the waters. Maybe planning for a Halloween bump in sales and if the story is good people will stick around.Good luck with that.
>>155778639>The Five Lights ExperimentThere's only four though
>>155785428Now anon, we've been over this..
>>155778736you know the real reason he invited her is to catch another glimpse of that ass
>>155784989There's also the Storm gets bitten by Dracula storyline in the Claremont run. They're releasing a facsimile of this issue times with the midnight releases
>>155785546please, he is a man of God BEATA MARIA YOU KNOW I AM A RIGHTEOUS MAN
>>155784989I think it's just they decided on doing a horror universe, and you GOTTA do X-Men in any AU thing, and since Vampires are oddly tied to X-Men, they just went with that. I doubt it was for any other reason.
>>155778586sequel trilogy luke skywalker's looking ass
>>155783949Not wanting a core part of their character removed does not equal to wanting it to be their entire character.Pietro's best stuff came in x titles (written by Peter David) and his angst about being a mutant was part of his characterisation on the avengers dating back to the 70's.
>mfw there’s a scene where an ancient vampire wakes up and the issue ends with a text box that says “while you slept, the world change.”BRAVO HICKMAN
>>155778725Oh no! My>woman gets turned into a vampire and dresses up like a Coppola Dracula rejectfetish! I mean, I guess it's just a standard "corruption costume change" fetish, but stupid hair adds a lot.
>>155780392>It does seem to be setting it up to be more like a World Of Darkness style thing with clans and different factions within the vampire clans though so maybe it'll have a decent political machinations angle to itThe mutant angle isn't really needed for that, sounds like something Hickman could have done on it's own without the X-men IP.
Let me guess.Cyclops is jaded vampire hunter who will mentor young girl who will teach 'stupid jaded fat fuck' that there is still hope (Ha Ha) for them so Cyclops will sacrifice himself to let her escape before the story reaches the middle section.Sorry, can't expect anything better from the guy who's only notable thing about Cyclops in Krakoa was making him a polygamy fag.
Hickpires how we feeling about the start of the latest hicksterpiece?
>>155785802In a few years we'll hear this was meant to be an original horror vampire comic and Hickman got paid to do it at Marvel
>>155785859not enough pages dedicated to charts
>>155778520Hot.
>>155785671No fuckin shitA huge part of 90s x-factor is him angsting like a motherfucker about who is dad is
>>155778809>Wanda and storm are barely in the issue>half the variant covers are their titsDamn now that's desperate
>>155785895Unfortunately charts died with Orchus. That's right, the chartbot was a Sentinel all along. Greatest twist in comics, really.
>>155778520>>155778725>>155778736>>155778745Okay...i might think Ororo is the only one i would be kinda okay to bite me...mhm
>tsukihime with mutantsbravo hickman
>>155786160Laura in Ciel cosplay would be funny as fuck.
>>155786172
>>155786160yo no way midnight apocalypse already got leaked
>>155785671Quicksilver is so weird, hes a core avenger yet he doesnt really have dynamics with the rest of the team other than cap and vision, does he?
>>155786399Surely he has something Hawkeye? That era of Avengers is something of a blindspot, but that feels like something that has to have happened.
>>155786523They had a bit of a rivalry about who could be the leader from whata I remember. Quicksilver has basically always been standoffish beside being overprotective for his sister.
>>155778613Funny how as much attention Glob Herman has been getting lately, this is the most he's done besides cooking in the main line.>>155778680>>155778688That's my dude.>>155778701It's no jetpack, but it'll have to do.>>155778709A little heavy handed, don't you think?>>155778745Thriller ass ending. It's decent enough, but at the same time I still don't yet see why this needs to exist besides having an obligatory X-Men book in the line. It's more of a What If? than a proper AU like the other Midnight books. The changes are extensive, but mostly in the past and way too mystery box-esque to be enjoyable. Ironically the gore didn't seem nearly as excessive as the other books, but still felt like shock value.I'll check in from time to time, but it's still the least exciting book of the line.
>>155779924almost as if most comic writers don't know jack shit about Catholicism.Well. Can't be worse than yhe Chuck Austin run.
>>155786874Cool blog fag, so glad someone asked you to post your review.
>>155786160damn forgot about that anime, but yeah you're right.
>>155787120cool post review review
>>155778736storm's ass and black cat's tits have convinced me to become a buyer
>>155784252no, just people who read comics before the 2010s
>>155778661I’m having a Cyclops fatigue. The way Marvel has been relentlessly fellating him up for the past couple of years is starting to get really annoying.
>>155780676The CIA vilifies catholicism in order to push evangelical churches. Also the catholic church was sabotaged from within.
>>155785824wait isn't Hope the phoenix? So doesn't she also obsess over Cyclops too? In a bad way?
>>155787159It's a visual novel, there is no Tsukihime anime.
>>155779647Always, he did them a lot in his indie works too, East of West.
>>155779647All 3 Midnight books have them. It seems to be one of Midnight's "trademarks" for whatever reason.
>>155787621Shut it, he is kino.
>>155778661H-H-He looks like me.....thank you Marvel.
>>155787621it will never be enough after how he was bungled by cunts like Bendis and Aaron so enjoy the ride buddy boy.
