Honestly, I think they were kind of idiots when it came to Dante.
He was just doing his job; it’s not his fault that the hotel happens to be the epicenter of evil.
Besides, he saved Esther’s life—he saved the life of the Chosen One!—and these wretches repay him by betraying him.

When writers try to outthink the concept of the afterlife they can't think of anything better than "the soul eventually just disappears" not realizing how infinitely more horrifying that is than if we just did not have souls at all.

One could argue the entire point of religion is to give us some semblance of control over something that is ultimately completely outside our purview. Almost all of them proclaim that whatver makes up "us" is something that lasts eternity without thinking out what eternity actually entails. Personally im of the opinion that whatever happens, the thing that is "you" effectively vanishes, and anything that does continue on isnt truly "you", or at least you are no longer aware of ever being "you". Be it reincarnation or afterlife or simply ceasing to be, it doesnt matter in the end. What matters is what you do now, today, with this thing called life that you find yourself existing within.
>>
>>155967447
>he only responds with emojis

>>155967648

>>
>>155967447
You know, I kinda want to do a fanfic about that. Like an episode of him coming to the hotel and while Esther first hates him and shouts but was craving fatherly love (as we all know), Ben wasn't that affected by him coming back until later in the episode where the dad wants to spend time with her and treats her like a princess but all that love is towards Esther and Esther alone.

This could then evolve into Ben trying to talk himself into believing that it was only Esther who wanted to spend time with him, and that he helps too much in the hotel for a day off with him.

Now for the conclusion would be Ben and Esther simply accepting that Nathan is a better father figure than anything their dad was, but I still don't know if I want to have a supernatural antagonist in this or be just a humane episode, nothing paranormal happening with them (in the mean time Abaddon is having the day of his eternal life until he gets bored because there's no one to play with)

This is something that I hate whenever it flashes into my mind intrusively. Just the idea that death is a form of sheer nothingness that it's impossible to imagine. That you won't have a single thought anymore, forever. That you won't experience a single sensation ever again. That your existence is truly, definitively over. I can't help but just get stressed about it whenever it pops into my head.

Anyways haha cartoons
>>
>>155967956
Well if you think about it, you've already experienced that, so to speak. There was a time where you did not exist, there will be a time where you do not exist again. So it goes....

While I appreciate the sentiment, that non-existence before your birth doesn't really matter, because you've yet to experience the sensation of living. Death returns you to that nothingness, but now with the awareness of what you are losing.

It’s also fitting because Constantine’s extreme methods always puts him at odds with the rest of his universe. He’s a utilitarian largely only concerned with the bigger picture. He stoops to some very questionable lows to get things done, and that includes things like selling out entire populations to get a problem to go away. In contrast to that, Dante is ironically not as bad, a destroyed hotel is a pretty trivial consequence for the defeat of a greater evil.

Basically, they were exactly the recurring pattern that Mista J was trying to speak against: people who make up new rules and add them to the already-really-long list of rules from the man upstairs. any shaman who creates time travel magic, especially one-way, needs to work in what happens to you, whether you replace yourself, etc.
Even Star Trek explained like, 40 or 50 versions of Worf passed through this spatial anomaly that coated them in these specific particles, so now they are swapping places in each other's universes, simultaneously, each time one of them is irradiated by geordi's visor. that aint even time travel, but it neatly explained the slipping into your own shoes thing.

I was thinking more of using the fact that Ben is EXTREMELY starved of praising. And although saying that Esther has an unhealthy cope mechanism, he also does have one too, and that is by hiding his feelings. In all the instances where their father was important (for the episodes minus the flashback one), it was Esther who broke easier, while Ben didn't even seem to "care" much, so I wanna make this coping mechanism of his to finally backfire. It's silly but I want some angst. Even Esther think it's odd only her is receiving her dad praise.

Felt like it was more because he couldn't save them rather than the time itself but sure it was hurting him. Though this does kill the whole "he's 10 in demon years" theory lol. But if he was lying before all of his lore about being around before most humans is now canon, also can we talk about how

Also as funny as it may sound since we see he literally survives outside of time and then the big bang/universal expansion. This makes abaddon incredible durable/high tier immortal. I assume the point of the slab is to just toss stuff into the void aka why it's the beginning of time. But abaddon survived 100 big bangs with no powers.

True he'd have endured low oxygen and toxic environments because of early earth. Also, idk, I think he does go through the Big Bang, as they say "the beginning of time," and we see the Big Bang every time. Which makes me assume it means that is his starting point because then why else show it.
>>
>>155971065
nnneat. maybe try having it break up into a bunch of locks that all fly around wildly like tongues of flame? that way it's both realistic for hair AND stylistic.

First I must say, thanks! I will try that (although I want something that still has the same feeling of the show so he's not too desconected from the design, Imma try that and see if it gets too odd character wise)

People, remember where he's from. Anything bad that happens and exists in universe came from or has in there. Low oxygen and toxic environment?

>"So you want your torture chamber air to be nitrogen based, sulphirc based, helium based?... Oxygen? Sulphuric it is. Now the floor... Let's make it so a fine layer of your skin is melt and glued to the ground by the heat"

I am certain early Earth and Hell were so close, it could even be a recurring joke that Earth was once a spa for high ranking demons before God broke everything down and built civilization huauhauha. Also canonically Abaddon is almost half a trillion years old if he endure the beggining and end of Earth a hundo times

Hmmm sounds cool think current design is good but can't wait.

True but he's tanking that in a human body that's the real feat. We don't know how good his immortality is/durability but must be insane. That does sound horrible maybe abaddon is just immune to some things since we see him walking around during these periods.

That would be hilarious early earth is a spa. I just imagine abaddon and the family going to some early earth setting and abaddon is just like roger from american dad as the family is dying.
>Freelings coughing up blood or visibly burning
>Abaddon giddy and jigging
>"Don't you love this heat? It reminds me of Hell! Jingles in the bells! Jing, jingle, jingle bell, bell! Jing, jingle, jingle! Hey, how come everybody's dying?"

>>155974486
That actually wasn't a human, but a high ranking demon. A demon shouldn't make friends with humans, and specially not a she-mon, so the demon is teaching Abaddon what happens when demons get too soft, or in their saying: "when demons get too angel". This moment here is Abaddon seeing Esther when she comes to save him

>>
>>155974605
Demons are weaks to ghost, who (and now this is nothing more than just an AU) are weak to angels, who are weak to humans, so she demanded Ben to use his angel girlfriend to comand a ghost to fight off a demon, but let's be real, I just wanted to draw beat up sad Abaddon (also changed the fire and his messy hair)
>>
>>155973318
Tricking people into kissing them was still frowned upon in the ‘80s, right?
>>
>>155974759
Damn they samson'd abaddon cut his hair. I always wondered why cutting your hair is a humilation thing but more a girl kink now. I won't overly judge the au my b. But really these are definitely fun expressions anon keep going also why doesn't the angel just fight the demon?
>>
>>155974923
I would make demons and angels have the same amount of power, but then the first episode came and already broke that by making ghost-demon-human a rock-paper-scissor type of weakness, so I had to put angels in it somewhere, so I made them weaker to humans (because they need their praise and adoration) and stronger against ghosts, closing the order
>>
>>155974923

it's funny, he's presumably immune to starvation, but continues having biofunctions anyway. There must be some energy source.. might be Abaddon's own being. It's one thing for an eternal cosmic being to exist, but eternal corporeality demands some exchange.

My personal headcanon as to why Abaddon eats a lot, and eats practically anything, is that it's a nod to the original Abaddon being the name of a bottomless pit. Same for the chest-mouth on his true form too.
He just eats and eats and is never truly fully full.

That hotel seems to be some sort of gateway to the Ghostworld—or the afterlife—given the unusual amount of paranormal entities and ghosts it appears to spew into the mortal realm on a daily basis and have infested the entire town and forest; and consequently, it attracts other supernatural forces, such as witches, demons, cultists, magical or mythological creatures, ancient outer gods, alien/eldritch entities, shadows, vampires, the undead, and so on.

If that hotel had been blow down, he might have accidentally destroyed the magic that kept the ghosts in place, thereby unleashing an Armageddon upon the entire world—much like what happens in Devil May Cry.
i mean, not like the one that happened because of Abaddon but a chaos similar to Ghostbusters.

The line Between the World of the Living and Death could have been shattered and Ghosts could harm people so as they do to Dante.
>>

>>155977268
It's funny, I get annoyed when there are too many coincidentally important things about Earth in a scifi setting with all manner of extraterrestrial life and cosmic beings, yet I totally buy that there are parts of this planet where the fabric of reality is just weak (and that those parts travel with the planet through space, I guess, at least on our end). That's an ancient concept, too. They used to believe that about Mesopotamia/Babel/Chaldea/Babylon/Persia. And since that's where Eden was...

Still, I have to wonder if there is a major source of this. I mean, it's one thing to say ghosts happen and monsters congregate because of just essentially a 'natural feature' of the fabric of reality. but an ancient god being buried there? a REALLY ancient god, too. I think that guy might just be the source of all of it. He's the Demon Xanth, if you will.
>>
>>155976822

I think Abaddon likes the taste of mortal food because its loaded with processed sugar and preservatives to where its completely decadant which is why he appreciates it because his taste buds are that of a small starving 1700's child who isnt used to having this level of decadence conveniently around him at all times

I think ghosts and these ancient Gods are complete different things, the God could draw the fantasy, mythological, demonic and eldritch aspects of the hotel.

The Ghosts seems to came from a different plane from existence, the Ghostworld.
'cause yeah, the hotel is infested with foreign ghosts already, most of them are pretty random and don't fit with the story of the hotel being prison and a mental Asylum like 2 times.
And not only the Hotel, all the Town reeks of Paranormal energy.

Well it’s near the starting point so showing it to give some context makes sense plus the beginning is sped up which seems to indicate the ‘timer’ hasn’t started yet but I guess there’s room for interpretation
>>
>>155982422
Could also be because he was pullying a mahoraga and just constantly tanking the heat death/heat restart of the universe over and over. So he couldn't maintain his physical form for long. But you are probably right just felt a bit weird to keep showing it plus it says the beginning of time and the big bang would count in my head. Also would explain why none of the other stuff they send there causes any time paradox. Perfect paradox free time machine because it literally kills or vaporizes anything with matter.

I was really invested in this season Intro Tale.

So what is the deal with them?
Eshter clearly fucked up as voodoo dolls aren't supposed to come to life.

The question is :

Are the dolls "clones" with the personality of the people they were made after?

or

The soul of the people got sucked inside the dolls bring them to life while the original are some sort of coma or zombie like state?
>>

>>155983321
Better they aren't real or these people would be fucked. I imagine esther tried voodoo dolling with random bits of hair and clothes she got from people. Each being people who were residents or came into the hotel for a second last season. But as you said think the dolls came to life or she fucked them up.

Also can't be last one as we see the mailman meaning he's still ok. Also think we see the nice hotel guy as well.

I Don't remember seeing any of them in the last season so I wouldn't be sure.

That would explain why Eshter hasn't noticed them being alive as she would be sleeping... But the Astral Projection Episode we see as she faze through a wall a scene of the Principal doll being chased by the Zombie Possum.

Abbadon says the very presence of ghosts makes him feel like a thousand knives are jabbed into his body. We're not entirely sure what level of demon he is and if the human body he possesses plays a role, but it's still clear that ghosts are effectively a kind of kryptonite for thier kind. Have enough in one spot like the hotel and probably even the most powerful lords of hell become weak, feeble husks
>>
>>155987326
Considering guys like Hitler (and McCarthy, while we're at it) ended up being incredibly beneficial to their victims, by way of engendering sympathy, I have to think they're in some special kind of 'no, you have to watch this' afterlife, rather than the traditional fire and poking.

that is kinda weird, if you think about it. But it also makes sense. A ghost is a dead human that a demon can't do anything about, because they aren't in the right place for it. But also, it's like the demons' job remains forever unfinished, until the ghost goes on to somewhere else.

I would imagine that is more of an environment issue then like there could be thousands of ghosts that do their stuff completely isolated like in the sky a ghosts randomly manifests and explodes but nobody sees it.
But in the show ghosts don't stuck in a loop so it might just be the guy with the rocket pants that blew up while he wore it is stuck in the sky and will never get to land if he died before landing.
Then again it was shown that there was no limit on how low a ghost could go so maybe they could manifest on the ground especially since they likely started out there

I think I have the best interpretation of the afterlife—if I may simplify it for you.
It comes from a personal project of mine; you see, to me, the afterlife is divided into 5 levels:
.Heaven – Angels/Earthly Gods
.Nirvana – Spirits/Buddhist-kind divinities and the like.
(Upper planes)
Limbo – Souls/Ghosts (Middle plane; directly connected to the mortal plane)
(Lower planes)
Sheol – Shadows/Umbrae
Hell – Demons
When someone dies, they don’t instantly become a ghost; instead, they become a "Soul."
After spending some time in Limbo, that soul turns into a ghost—or some other type of ghostly entity—unless it is sentenced to one of the other 4 levels beforehand.
Unlike in the series, here it is the demons that affect the ghosts. Since ghosts are directly linked to the living plane—every being that dies becomes a soul and, subsequently, a ghost—just as a demon can affect a human, it logically follows that it also affects their soul.
In fact, ghosts are the most vulnerable to the influence of the other 4 levels; that is to say:
Ghosts are affected by Spirits & Shadows.
Shadows corrupt ghosts & souls.
Spirits purify ghosts & souls, transforming them into pure entities that I call "Animas."

Spirits & Shadows can destroy each other; however, if they match in power level, their interactions follow the "rock-paper-scissors" dynamic.

Spirits & Shadows can be affected by Angels & Demons.
Angels & Demons are similar in nature to Spirits & Shadows, but exist on a far more extreme scale—they are embodiments of fundamental realities, and their power is universal in scope.
Angels represent Order, while Demons represent Chaos—or entropy.
Even the weakest Demon can affect the strongest Spirit, just as the weakest Angel can affect the strongest Shadow; in fact, the mere presence of an Angel or a Demon can completely obliterate these two.
While they cannot destroy ghosts, they can still exert influence over them through their power.

I imagine it's like a freebie or having a mental illness/damage. You aren't yourself so mostly all the sins are attributed to the demon.Because jacob most likely wasn't a bad kid and seemed to have no way to get abaddon out of his body.

Though god being a petty bitch like puritans imagined is kind of funny. "Dirty slut letting a demon fuck their soul"
>>
>>155990304

Smeet! It's a ghost girl!
>>
>>155990362
Well that's mostly old testament, in the new testament he tries to warn you and usually life just fucks you in exchange. It's where the concept of the karma/universe retribution thing kind of comes from in fables/most stories. Wonder if he did that to abaddon as punishment for corrupting a innocent soul.
>>
>>155990445
ah, but when life fucks you over, that's still your choices (that is, humanity's choices) ganging up to fuck you. He still always gave you the warning even back then, he just also did a lot more visual theatrics.

it is difficult to reconcile how God would be in this setting, one assumes VERY hands-off, very distant. But then again, maybe the existence of ghosts here is a little loophole he pulls to help some people figure shit out if they hadn't done so by (what is normally) the deadline.

Not a bad idea anon. Though knowing esther she'd just want the powers not care about some rando. She'd just want to look cool, could also see it being because of abaddon. He and some other monsters are chilling or hanging out and esther feels left out. Or maybe even esther realizing how weak and mortal she is compared to the creatures like abaddon. So she wants a taste of that power but becomes addicted to being a monster.

No lie if we get a s3 maybe could be a multi episode monster arc. Like imagine astral esther but we see little key points in other eps that softly reveal she was a project in the previous episode or something.

Just to be clear because I'm not sure I understood your post (it sounded like you meant to say "before I felt.. and now I feel" ) but I'm not talking about those boring anchor-point vectors, see that's why I didn't use them for decades. I thought that's what they were, when others talked about drawing in vector
I'm talking about a vector layer in your art program, and then you draw the lines like normal. everything looks the same, aside from a TINY jittering of the line after you draw it, with one or two pixels moving from where they were before you lifted the pen
until you try manipulating them with rotate, skew, etc. now suddenly they... just behave, they don't go all weird or jaggedy. they do what you want them to. it's amazing. aaahh. I could have been doing shit so much better for so long.
>>155991064
damn right they are. though I have never been fond of the immortal / contagious aspect, that just seems silly for a few reasons. I always loved how Mike Tyson Mysteries put it, when Marquess explained how ghosts can die again. And if he dies, he'll stop being able to touch anything. Then if he dies again, he'll stop looking like himself and just be a generic bedsheet ghost. and I wanna say after that, invisible, only able to wail and spook people but not really participate.

the continuity on that show was terrible (on purpose, I think), but whenever it tried to have rules, they instantly just made sense and gelled with the plot.

in my case, My Ghosts follow the logic of "You cannot kill what is already dead"—no matter how much damage you inflict, you can only weaken it until iy gets defeated.

If it is a ghost present in the world of the living, it simply vanishes, pulled back to the dimension where all ghosts go.

To put it another way, my interpretation draws heavily from Buddhist mythology, which posits different types of immortality across 4 Mortuary plane levels.

It is quite complex but interesting.

yeah same, the only vectors I knew about back then were those stupid anchor-point things, often with a fountain pen nib icon?
but now it's literally a layer type. and, once you're done, you can just rasterize the layer, and it's back to normal. (the reverse is also possible but the results are quite hideous, so it's best done sparingly and then with cleanup)
In Clip Studio at least (what I'm using), you can also do stuff like... cut out a segment of your vector line (or all of it) and then adjust its thickness.. it basically remembers your stroke, and makes it what it would have been like at a different line width, right down to the taper.
The only thing I don't like is the lines are hard to recolor (kinda have to rasterize there, or at least make a raster copy), and you have to tweak fill bucket a bit to play nice with it. and obviously since it's its own layer, overlapping becomes weird. yeah I know, I used single layer shit in digital art for like 20 years, I was retarded.

it also means Nathan doesn't constantly have to hide, and that you can do fun fakeouts. Plus stuff where an astral-projecting Esther can pretend she's normal, and then be suspected of being dead, before we find out the truth (and I love that astral phasing is a different color)
that said, I wouldn't have minded if maybe going translucent and blue was sort of a thing ghosts do... from time to time, maybe when stressed?

It actually reminds me a lot of how Rimmer from Red Dwarf was originally going to be in black and white, and they did that in the comic adaptations, but they couldn't pull it off on a british TV budget, not even on Dave.

Even so, it bothers me—I mean, what does this imply?

Ever since he killed himself, everything seems to have gotten better for him now that he’s a ghost; his family spends more time with him at the hotel, he has ghost friends, and he always seems cheerful.

Suicide is never the answer.
He ought to be more like Greg—a ghost who suffers for all eternity because of something he did to himself.
(A crime)
It’s unfair for a soul to possess the very thing he rob himself.

The Grape make more sense for his character and Ghost state.
This ruined my view on Nathan.

>not an actual fucking argument
I hate how these retards are trying to make suicide look like, what, the magical awnser for all of their fucking problems?

Nathan should be a more sad and gloomy lost soul and not the comic relief.
>>
>>155994877
The whole point of Nathan is that his always happy facade hid a deeply depressed man, that's part of his character anon, even as a ghost you can see he's still conflicted and has problems opening up.
>>
>>155994899
It's a fucking cartoon anon, you're way overthinking this.
They're not trying to paint suicide as the answer to anything, it's a tragedy, it's treated as a tragedy, we've seen how it affected Katherine.
Nathan's whole personality is a defense mechanism, we saw that even when he was alive in the flashback, he lied to Kathy and told her everything was fine.
>>
>>155994901
That only works when talking about a character who is alive.
Someone who dies by suicide will never find happiness in death, because it is not a suicide in the sense of a sacrifice for the sake of others or for a greater good.

It stems from the selfishness of a weak soul; given the nature of his soul, Nathan should not even be capable of feigning happiness—he is a truly tormented spirit.

It is not like the ghosts in Corpse Bride.
As I said, it makes more sense for him to die from eating the grapes, because that way, he could at least maintain a mask of happiness.
Someone who dies by suicide will never find peace; they will continue to suffer from the very same depression that drove them to commit an act so low for any living being.

>It is not like the ghosts in Corpse Bride.

>Someone who dies by suicide will never find peace; they will continue to suffer from the very same depression that drove them to commit an act so low for any living being.

One of the biggest flaws in western adult animation.
Such topics are never framed as something truly negative, but rather as a "last resort."

This is often reinforced by the nonsensical notion that there is nothing after death—that even the worst of human beings will go unpunished, both in death and beyond it, simply because "there is nothing."

Not even Haunted hotel could save from it.
>>
>>155995058
>never framed as something truly negative, but rather as a "last resort."

>but the show has actually showed us multiple times that Nathan was always kinda like that, clearly he just wasn't strong enough to keep going, I dunno why it's so hard for you to accept that.
And yet he can still be able to make a "facade", a suicider?
The problem is that he serves as the comic relief; the soul of someone who has committed suicide simply shouldn't look or act so normal—it’s as if nothing had ever happened to him.
>It is kinda like that now that you mention it actually.
This film brilliantly illustrates how morality functions among the dead. All the ghosts are people who died from illness, accidents, murder, war, or old age.
They are all happy, and this happiness stands in stark contrast to the living, who seem more dead than the ghosts themselves.
However, upon discovering that the Count killed his bride, they turn hostile; by the end, it is implied that they intend to torture the malevolent ghost—they punish the wicked and the selfish.
>healing
Considering the first episode of the first season and last episode of the second season, he died not long ago; redemption doesn't just appear out of nowhere.
>>
>>155995074
The show indirectly implies this, as Nathan acts with such normalcy; he does not appear genuinely tormented, nor does he seem remorseful or distressed by the act he committed.

And like i said, the "facade" thing only works with the living, the death have nothing to hide.
>>
>>155995148
I dunno, he wasn't really happy about it when he found out.

I think suicidal people can look could be completely either very weird or very normal, there's no one way to be honestly.
>>
>>155995180
Just because he’s forgotten it doesn’t mean this depression couldn’t affect him again.
It simply makes no sense—given the series' themes, its brand of humor, and Nathan’s personality—it makes perfect, goddamn sense that he would die by choking on grapes; the suicide plotline just doesn’t fit.
It’s an added layer of complexity that, as I’ve already explained, simply doesn’t work.

Even if he has forgotten it, the moment he remembers, he should act like a truly tormented soul—not just brush it off, like, "Oh, that happened."

>He lives with his family, he's undead, clearly he still has secrets.
You just said Katherine told him how he died, there's nothing else he have to hide.

My argument was just that you're misunderstanding what the show is trying to say, probably due to strong opinions about how suicide should be portrayed in media.
>>
>>155995337
In Western media, this is never presented as something negative that carries real consequences for the selfish individuals who believe they will find peace by taking their own lives.
Spoiler: they won’t.

The worst part is that this element—Nathan’s suicide—could be removed and completely replaced without affecting the show in the slightest.
In fact, it would actually fix it by presenting a simple character who died in a foolish way, with an "unfinished business" that is fundamentally impossible to resolve: maintaining the hotel.
(Of course, he would eventually forget about it, which would then lead us to the episode set at the center of the Earth.)
>>
>>155995376
You see it as an inherently selfish thing, and while I kinda get it, it also kinda feels like victim blaming.
People don't just kill themselves for no reason man, it's the result of extreme mental illnesses, we don't know what happens after, and it's obviously not the right thing to do, but it's not like they're in the right headspace when they make that choice.
I don't really think it's any more selfish than simply being too depressed to get out of bed, some people really just can't take it anymore, it's a tragedy more than anything.
>>
>>155995376

Leftist societies generally view suicide poorly, don't know of a single one that has assisted suicide, nor that had one historically aside from one brief period a century ago in the USSR (it was subsequently banned across the entire Comintern). It's generally more of a neoliberal thing. For example assisted suicide is legal in some US states, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland. While it is not legal in China, DPRK, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos, Venezuela, nor seemingly even a single leftist country at present.

I don't even generally disagree with you, just saying not philosophical/sociological thing you dislike/disagree with is 'leftist'.

Concepts written down centuries after Jesus died that were borrowed from Plato figuring them out a good millennium beforehand. Next?

How about something much more simple?: the concept of heaven and hell across all religions.

The good go to a realm of peace;
the bad go to a dark place of punishment or suffering.
>>
>>156000041
Point being that morality is entirely subjective, and that to try to enforce objective truths based upon it is hubris, at best. Im not so much demonizing the concept as much as I am pointing out its flaws.

Hell was borrowed from the Norse idea of Hélheim, which was the place everyone that didnt die in battle went to instead of Valhalla. The earliest Jewish texts make no mention of Hell, simply that the wicked spend eternity "distant" from God. Other religions that have a concept of punishment after death almost always make it a temporary place where your bad karma gets used up, so to speak, before you move on to whatever.
It's all just stories we tell ourselves to make sense of a senseless universe that legitimately can not care if we exist or not. The fact we've spent most of our history going to war over our silly stories about the world is just gravy.

Sadducees believed in God but didn't believe in afterlife. Christian Annihilationists don't believe in Hell since it causes so many theological problems. Mormons believe that only apostates end up in Hell (even sorcerers and idolaters are saved but if their reward is lesser). Dharmic religions don't believe that Heaven(s) or Hell(s) are permanent. Most "pagan" religions believe that almost all people end up in gray, cold, cave-like Underworld and only really special persons are punished or rewarded (also this one is in the Old Testament).
My point in the end is, this is a thread about a comedy cartoon involving a wacky family and silly ghosts. This whole discussion about theology and philosophy and history and politics is entirely pointless.

Actually actually Norse people had a very interesting way of perceiving the afterlife. If you died in battle, those who wished to spend their death in peace would go to Fólgvangr in Vanaheim, those who wished to continue to war were sent to Odin's personal army, Valhalla; the farmers and rural people would go to Bilskirnir in Þrúðheimr where they could continue their farm life; the virgin women would help Gefjon plow the earth for new settlements while the drowned would spend eternity in Rán's realm; even Helheim was nothing more than an afterlife where people who died of old age or illness would go to "rest" and only Niflheim, specificallt Náströnd would be the place for the worst of the worst, where they would be consumed by Níðhöggr.

To them, the afterlife was just another "life", not eternal suffering or eternal bliss, just eternal "life" doing what you've been doing when alive.

They are the life force of a living being in its ethereal form, a "soul"; for this reason, I believe that ghosts should not be equated with the undead.
>>
>>156000718

>>
>>156000330
The concept of Hell is definitely older than Christian interaction with Norse worldviews. Other religions do factually have a place where you go to and don’t come back from. Islam and Buddhism off the top of my head.

Im not that retard but lets actually break down what hes saying: ultimately nothing matters, so why not live life how you want to. I wouldn't say that's inherently "better" than having God(s) being the final arbiter of all things. If anyone claims it is then they're just as much as a pretentious douche as any religionfag declaring themselves to be the ONLY way
>>

I don't how to because in my cellphone it's already in the right position, just in 4chan is like this.

>>156000630
Also just forgot to add that these are just SOME of the afterlives, because each god has their own hall with their own people, as well as Alfheim also being a place of afterlife too. The norsemen believed you would go to the realm/hall of the god you believed in. That's ome of the reason I like Norse mythology soo much!

Bantu tribes in Africa still eat pygmies, when they're not raping them. They literally don't see them as 'people' and never did before the white man forced them to. Because they are dumber ("rocks in their heads" is a common way for Bantus to describe them) and seen as more of an animal, the Bantu's "human morality" doesn't apply to them.
