When are we finally going to admit that the cable tv system for animation is superior to the indie and streaming era?>Bigger budgets>More episodes >Shorter gaps between seasons for most shows>Professional, Harvard educated writers>Top tier voice talentCable couldn't be beat and I believe in a couple of years you'll see more people admit it
Boy I sure love having to watch an episode during a specific time slot! It's so fun missing episodes or watching a series in the wrong order! I love being spoiled from a big reveal without having seen the actual story arc!Being forced to watch more commercials than the show itself is a thrilling experience, especially when it's encouraging me to buy things I will never need.

why is spongebob making ranting threads now
>>156171030Slow week at the Krusty Krab
>>156170905You sound like you're too young to have lived through that era.
>>156170905No one argues with this. The issue is that for whatever reason animation never made the jump from cable to streaming like it should have
>Cable was so much better! Why aren't people praising it anymore and admit it was better?
>>156170905Shut up, op gay
>>156171063Why did cn have such a hard on for TTG?
>>156171054It did. Its just the streaming "Netflix" model never fucking fit. There's a reason why nobody remembers shit like Kid Cosmic or Stretch Armstrong Streaming failed the build a fandom when it mattered, and cable failed twice as much it mattered.
>>156171063Now show a schedule from 2004 vs the supposed indie and streaming golden age
>>156171089I could, but 2004 being better than the current state of western animation now isn't saying anything. Everything that's gone wrong, and the reason why the indie boom is happening is because everything went fucking wrong in the mid to late 2010sStreaming didn't kill cable, cable bent over backwards and took it, giving up, despite any half hearted and half assed attempts to course correct later that blew up in their faces. Again, Indies didn't pop from nowhere, they made in response to the industry proper failing animation and probably tv in general.
>>156170905A lot of it's the transition in crew. 2 stupid dogs had 15 background artists. Fairly Oddparents New Wish had 3, and 30 middle-managers, coordinators, supervisors, and vice presidents
These indie hate threads are really starting to read as some autist spamming minor variations of the same thing.
Indie cartoons could be good, but unfortunately, zoomers and millennials could draw good if they chose to, and could be funny if they tried, but they just never do. And boomer cartoonists are too lazy to do anything because they wouldn't get paid last-century's wages
>>156170980Everything that you mentioned is SOVL though, also TV Guides existed for a reaosn
>>156171041Damn... Ol' Bobby's patty-flipping skillz must be gettin' rusty cuz usually there'll always be TONS of foot traffic there
>>156171877Cope
>>156170980>Nigger doesn’t know about reruns
>>156171142People still can't accept the fact that cable killed cable
>>156171063This shit is the only reason I don't have cable. I used to have Cartoon Network on 24/7 then they started playing the same show all fucking day.
>>156171993Thank god for TV antennas. That shit will always be free, unless you’re a britfag.
>>156171086tell me about it. I caught a couple of episodes of the Boss Baby animated series a couple of years ago, and I was genuinely surprised about its quality: it's got an ongoing story, long term character development, seasonal arcs, mysteries, it's exactly the kind of shit /co/ and tumblr would have gone apeshit about just 10 years ago, and yet I've never seen anybody talk about it at all, and I can only assume it's because of its streaming distribution. Or lack of waifus.
>>156171282Crazy how easy it is for one autist to shit up an entire board.
>>156171950>watch show with active fandom, talk about the show IRL with friends>miss an episode>everybody talking about it, inevitably get spoiled, can't engage in conversations about it>"just wait for the reruns bro">>156171877This is only partially true for episodic shows that don't encourage much discussion. For any shows with an actual storyline it's complete ass.Streaming/online platforms have significantly improved accessibility and distribution which has improved things in (almost) every way.
>>156172079>Nigger also doesn’t know about on-demand or DVRs, or even a fucking VCR.
>>156172042Because it’s fucking Boss Baby
>>156171282Indie cartoons typically don’t appeal to most people, couple that with the fact that streaming isn’t as financially viable as anticipated and it’s no wonder animation is now a money pit.
>>156172182Yes anon you're right, using a DVR or VCR is really fun and great to use compared to streaming or online purchasing. And as we both know, most shows and episodes on cable were accessible through on-demand.
>>156170905>Doesn't realize cable TV especially cable TV animation is on its last legs
>>156172306>says cable TV twice
>>156172304>Yes anon you're right, using a DVR or VCR is really fun and great to use compared to streaming or online purchasingOne-time purchases are preferable, yes
>>156172042>>156172200be glad we never got "bro babies"
Cable TV killed TV animation
>>156170980Imagine not being able to fit your favorite show into your schedule.
>>156171045How so?
>>156172306 Same goes for everything.
>>156171936Arrest..
