The inherent problem is that if you're playing a nameless grunt, but the focus is always on you, that implies that you're special in some way and worth paying attention to. I think the best option for an enemy grunt game could be either a Pikmin/Wonderful 101 style game where your character is operating among a mass of other identical thugs which you quickly lose sight of yourself in, and if you bite the dust at some point, you'd never even realize it. Or, something like a rogue-lite where you're an inherently lowly and pathetic scrub who can't accomplish anything without huge amounts of borrowed power, and even then, one little mis-step gets you clapped and replaced immediately as a replacement grunt is thrown out in your place for the next run, restarting just as powerless and pathetic as you were at the start of your last attempt.
