So it turns out I can take a 2.5 inch toy, though not solid. First time doing so, it was interesting guiding it in. I tried to get both so they would be 10 inches long and 8 inches insertable, but the Famario wound up being so big I wondered if I would only be able to get the head in.

I washed them off and took a shower with the Wiz II, and love it because you don't need other toys to prep. Just take it slow starting with fingers and lube, then work your way down gradually to the base. When you take it all the way it is comfortably filling, and the wider midsection (2.3" wide, 6.9" circ) is a reasonable stretch, but also draws the toy in and allows it to comfortably settle in and fill you up. It is nice for riding and regular use.

The Famario on the other hand is QUITE filling. They only list the diameter at 2.5" and there is no circumference, but looking straight at it it's almost circular, meaning that if it isn't 7.85" around it's close to it.. I was debating whether I should even try it, but got confident with the Wiz and decided to go ahead. I used a generous helping of K-Lube and went slow, reapplying periodically. I had to sit it on the edge of a bathtub and sit on it in order to guide the head in and get it to enter. It would push it's way in, then compress a bit, and I would apply enough pressure that it would "give" and slip further in.

I managed to get it in down to the brown "sheath" looking part and push past the first ring, but whenever I would make for the hilt I would hit an obstacle; I'm hoping someone could tell me if its something straightening, or an inner sphincter. I had hit it once with a 9" toy when I was starting out, and the sensation went away. I tried a 10" Vector and it would push against it. I was careful, but I would push through the barrier and get this "spreading and pushing through" sensation, and settle down onto the base of the toy...

its hard to say its been a while. my first proper toy was 2 inches but this came after i had spent some years putting random things around the house in so im not really sure what my baseline was. I just know I got frustrated and forced it and that was a mistake, but it still took me a few different tries. Push it out a bit and then let it go back in, then push some more, back and forth a few times. It will come out.

If you want something for stretching get the carrot. Also great for a warmup.
Mundir is super popular for a knotted one, the three way knot can hit the prostate better.
Otherwise just get what looks the most fun to you. Dont get something so big you cant use it. The less taper at the tip or more texture the harder it will be to handle/more warmup needed.

The small tharin to medium stoic idea seems reasonable... if you can handle the small tharin already. With 4.5cm diameter shaft it is a decent bump up from the 3cm you mention having experience with. If you arent sure you can do the tharin, throw in a beginner or small carrot.
