I always enjoy people breaking this down, though it's usually more interesting than erotic to me. It's more getting to see how someone sees sex and gender, and inserts another one into the formula, and what that says about the mind of the people doing it

I like this sorta stuff because I like creating a biologically sound premise for why futas would be fucking males.

Man, I have mixed feelings about that shit. I have contemplated it in the past, and my general outlook is like this:
1) For biolore for futas to be practical is actually way more complicated than what people initially assume
2) If you're actually trying to go in deep, you should really go in deep, i.e. no "uh futas are like a third gender and they're like... really special..." because the audience for futa biolore is autists
3) If you just want fun futa stuff, you should not aim at autists, if you want autistic futa stuff, aim hard and only at autists

Expanding on point one:
Let's assume a few "goals" for our lore.
1) Futas are distinctly "a third gender". There are not "women but different", genetically. A child is born male, female, or futa, and there are no in-betweens.
2) Futas can both bear and sire children.
3) Futas can both bear and sire children of any gender - i.e. a child of a futa has a chance to be of all three genders.
4) A male and a female pairing can also sometimes result in a futa child being born.

Those goals already create a ton of complexity. We only have two sexual chromosomes to work with, an X-(?) pair. XX makes females, XY makes males. Many just create a Z chromosome and call it a day; "Futa is just XZ". But this is already bad for a few reasons.
1) During fetal development, the X chromosome is the one that encodes sexual characteristics. In women, the second X chromosome will "finish" the work of the first; in males, the Y "interjects" and repurposes the work to create the male reproductive system instead. Proto-ovaries become testicles, the protovagina closes up (creating the ridge between the balls and the anus), the protoclitoris develops into the penis, and so on. This doesn't work for futas. Futas need to have both to begin with; it means that the "initial" sex chromosome could not be X, it needs to be something else. "Well just make the Z (futa) chromosome be the starter, and it works", but not quite, because we still have problems - specifically, about potential combinations.

Remember goal three of our initial list. Children of all three sexes, distinct from one another. Let's assume a futa is XZ-coded, or ZX, whatever. Gametes only carry one gendered chromosome. The egg always carries an X chromosome, but the sperm can carry both a Y and an X chromosome. What about a futa's sperm? Z and X follow naturally, but that means that futas can only have daughters and other futas with women, but technically any gender of child with a male... but it creates aberrant combinations - an ZY chromosome mix. What is it? Also a futa, but more... mannish? Just a regular futa? Hard to say.
The most bizarre combination is futa on futa, because it can create, once again, only daughters and futas, but also the aberrant ZZ-chromosome futa. Yeah, you could handwave away all of those additional combinations, and I suppose that people who specifically want male degradation would actually like that reading, because futas inherently reduce male birth by being present in the gene pool. But I'm a different kind of autist, I like options, I like more potential, not less potential.

To cope with this, I introduced the concept of the revolver chromosome. A futa is indeed encoded through a third type of gendered chromosome, I'll keep calling it Z, but they are special in the sense that they carry additional genetic information that can be replaced are slotted in and out depending on the chemical markers of the second gamete during the crossing over state of fertilization. What it essentially means is that futas are characterized by a special chromosome that can work as any of the other chromosomes depending on chemical context; the Z chromosome can present as a pure Z (making a futa), but it can also slot as an X or a Y depending on the situation. Despite that, however, it will still carry the additional genes even across generations.
Why make it so complex? I will now explain, heed my autism.

Essentially, to fulfill the initial goals I've described above.

Goal 1 is fulfilled by requiring futas to have a distinct, specific chromosome for their development. A simple Z chromosome would do the trick here.

Goal 3 and 4 are creating the need for the revolver chromosome. It allows more combinations and allows the futas to persist in the genepool even between non-futa partners. Consider this:
Man who is biologically male, but both his parents are futas (one impregnated the other). It means his chromosomal makeup would be either X (Y) (the parenthesis indicate a revolver chromosome) or (X) (Y). That also means that when it comes time for this theoretical dude to have sex with a pretty lady and make children, their chromosomal makeup can end up in all kinds of ways - a girl that's a pure X - X, a girl that's a mixed X - (X), a boy that's a mixed X - (Y), or a futa that is a mixed X - (Z). The genetic line continues. More cute futas across generations.
And this is even before accounting for the makeup of the mother, that could bring even more complexity into the mix.

Since the revolving chromosome is more efficient, over time it would become the dominant sexual chromosome, with most children being born as carriers of both (some combination of (X) and (?)). However, due to the inherent mechanics of the revolver chromosome, there would still be sexual diversity, and it won't become a monofuta future.

Addition complexity arises when you consider specific genetic disorders, such as Klinefelter, but those are special cases.

All of this, by the way, is just genetics. The biochemistry of futas is a bog too deep for me to comfortably enter, because I can tell you for certain that they don't operate on the usual balance of testosterone - estrogen that women and men do. Even in the fetal stages, they have to develop to diametrically opposed sets of gonads; they'd need their own hormone to modulate it, a futestosterone of some kind.

I personally like super-human-lite futas, so it means that post-natal development of futas is also very intensive and demanding in terms of caloric intake, their psychology should be considerably different than that of "regulars". I also like to think that the revolver chromosome still has some effect when it's present in non-futas; say, an (X) - (X) female would usually end up a seven feet tall gigabooba girl, because I like it that way.

Anyway, this is just the very very surface of how deep this shit can go. As a closing statement I would add that some typical elements of the fetish cannot be "lored in" no matter how hard you try. I like cumflation and absurd amounts of cum, but there is no way to make it work no matter how hard you try (unless you just make it all magic in this or that way), so the aspiring lore autist should also realize what he should try to cover and what he shouldn't (for a given level of "believablity".
Funnily enough, a lot of autists will accept fantastical elements much easier if you don't try to explain them. A futa dumping seven gallons of semen into a girlie is okay. Try to explain that the futa has a special superprostate that compresses cum into gigadiamonds and then decompresses it back into liquid when it's time to do the honors, and it'll just feel dumb and break the glamour spell. Hear me out:
A human's sex is primarily determined by which hormones they received during the pregnancy. Excess estrogens make you a female, excess testosterone makes you maale; if both are VERY balanced (the window is very narrow), you become a futa. The mother provides either more testosterone or more estrogens depending on her environment - for example, being around a lot of guys will make the mother produce extra estrogen to compensate.

Further complicating things, we must consider sexual chromosomes. XX makes the fetus much more sensitive to estrogen, and more resistant to testosterone; the opposite happens with XY.

Okay, I have another system.

The X chromosomes contains information for "female" parts, while Y chromosomes contain information for "male" parts. So XX is purely female, YY is purely male, and XY is futa.
Double-chromosome gonads are superior to, and much more fertile than, single-chromosome gonads. So a male's testes and a female's ovaries will be more fertile than a futa's parts.
Futa eggs can be either X or Y; same goes with sperms.

So, under this system, let's look at what happens when two people conceive a child:
Male + female = 100% futa
Futa + female = 50% female, 35% futa, 15% failed pregnancy
Futa + male = 50% male, 35% futa, 15% failure
Futa + futa = 15% male, 15% female, 25% futa, 45% failure

In your case you have a uneven number of chromosomes, and thus either the female or the male gamete has to carry one extra chromosome, which complicates your mechanics considerably. Moreover it would allow for an oops all Y combination (YYY from a XYZ futa and XYY male) which is very tragic...

In your case you need to reinvent a lot of fetal mechanics because your chromosomes work differently from how they do in IRL meat people. It's fine if you want to go deep about it, but it just leaves a bizarre feel if you just skim over a completely reinvented key feature of human biology. That's simple: each gamete carries one of the parent's sexual chromosomes.
Females are XX and produce eggs; so every egg carries one of the X chromosomes. Likewise, males are YY, and only produce sperm carrying a Y chromosome.
Futas are XY, and produce both eggs and sperm. Each gamete, regardless of the type, has a 50/50 chance of carrying either the X or the Y chromosome.

Well, no, because people would notice that futas have a lower fertility - and this is especially evident when both parents are futas. So society would lean more towards relationships where only one or none of the parents are futa.
At the same time, futas are seen as both impregnators and carriers, husbands and wives at the same time. So, culturally, it is considered more acceptable for futas to be polygamous. Even in cultures where males and females are supposed to have only one spouse, futas are often allowed to have two - a male/futa husband and a female/futa wife.

I'm really here for the social aspects of worldbuilding. If futas were always a feature of human biology, how did cultures/religions form around it?
They could've not been around:
Pre-modern societies culled them at birth, and human rights trends saw more parents raising futa daughters.
They have some biological condition where they die as fetus/baby, but modern medicine found a way around it.

If they were never a minority, the world may be unrecognizable, as the oldest human ideas are founded on duality of male/female.
Either way they're gonna get slurs.

My approach has always been pretty straightforward:

YY=Men
XY=Futa
XX=Women

It does require that the Y Chromosome function differently than it does IRL, but that's a minor change with the rest of the changes being made. So, it works smoothly as a fairly simple form of Codominance.

This also means that 100% of all children of a man and a woman are futa. For a ManXFuta pair, 50% of children will be Men and 50% will be Futa. Similarly, for a FutaXWoman pair, 50% will be Women and 50% will be Futa. The FutaXFuta pairs are where it gets complicated, since that will result in 25% Men, 50% Futa, and 25% Women.

X and Y Chromosomes will naturally balance in the population over time, similar to how they do IRL. This means that the total gender ratios will be:

25% Men
50% Futa
25% Women

Though, individual populations might hit different ratios and be slow to drift towards the overall average.

as I said, in my world you'd need the participation of all three to have a pregnancy, so you'd get one chromosome from each participant.
