anons i just joined a new job and I am way way underqualified but they still chose me....SO please help me design a very cheap system that can intake 500kg of mucileganous semi solids (think okra slices), in order to dry down to a specific moisture %. This input is 90% water.
>>2939290be more specific abojt>specificsome things are possible with simple means, below a certain moisture content you're looking at more pricey stuff
>>2939290so you lied and said you were qualified? Will you tell them you asked 4chinz for help, or will you lie about that too?
>>2939290Not unless you give me your paycheck for doing your fucking job for you.

>>2939290good luck, i don't know enough. bumpis your budget 100 - 400?use a weighing machine to monitor moisturehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dryingreadare you automating it all?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arduinogood luck with the deadline
>>2939305if ambient isnt something crazy that should be doableit's roughly what wood in a temperate climate will be around when its just right for the fire after 2 years or soso how about you start with a big drum, give it enough holes for airflow but also house it in a total enclosure, paint that black so it heats up in the sun. Add a door and conveyor or slide for filling and an asynchronous motor with a gearbox to real slow spin the whole thing. Place paddles on the inside so stuff is constantly overturned. Rely on natural draft from a chimney to pull the air in on one end and through. Put a restrictor on the air intake so you can slow the exchange and get the sun to heat the whole thing up more.

>>2939290Start by putting my balls in your mouth until their dry as a test.
>>2939290Sounds like you need lots of hot dry air moving through it to dry it down. Large grate to hold the stuff in a thin layer, solar collector to make heat on said stuff, and fans to keep the air moving
>>2939290This is a rather difficult problem. I would tend towards a hot air blower through a very slow delicate tumbler (i. e. pipe shaped). But you're probably going to degrade whatever the product is by tumbling it - knock the corners off, create mush, make it look bad. Similarly the heat. Angle pipe down blow air up. There are a vast number of variables.
>>2939290Did you try googling "industrial okra dryer?" Why are you expected to just make one when. You can already buy one? What kind of equipment do you already have? How are you slicing your okra? Is it on a conveyor belt? You can get a food drying tunnel that can be put in line with your existing conveyors.

>>2939290So you need something that can dry snot? Or dry the snot off your solid cassettes? In the case of the former, I'd probably start with some form of vacuum distillation chamber. Bring that down from 90% moisture to something around 20-30%, leave it viscous enough to mitigate transfer losses. Save some of the distillate; you'll need this to rinse out remaining material from the inside. From there, transfer them to cake pans and dry in a vacuum oven. Once these are bone dry, you can rehydrate with either water or distillate to your desired moisture content. In the case of the latter, just run a filtration using a mesh screen, then dry them, followed by rehydration based on weight.
Put it in a rotovap then jam it straight up your ass. Do your fucking job. Pay me if you want my consultation. Fuck you.
