I need to unload 24 pallets with bricks on my property, but I cant drive a big truck on it because there are power lines next to the street on my side. A truck with a crane wont fit under them. I also cant get them delivered and unloaded onto the street.I was thinking to build something like pic rel, but it has to be free standing.Constrains:1: It needs to be movable so I can unload several pallets without having to move them.2: It has to be done on uneven terrain (grass)I thought about a double A frame with car wheels that are adjustable in height so I can compensate the terrain. The connectors would be made ouf steel where I can just slide some lumber inside and bolt it down.Has anyone ever done something like that?>Option B, get a forklift, but they are expensive and/or might break down>Option C unload the pallet by hand but that would take a lot of time and effortI need to unload them as fast as possible because I need to rent a small truck to get them from the store. One pallet is about 1 metric ton.
Look for one of those I guess, maybe you can rent it. But you'd be better off paying extra for some guy with a telehandler because it is going to suck. The homemade mobile crane on uneven grass sounds like a good way to end up crushed under a pallet.
Unload them by hand you fucking pussyThey don’t weigh shit…..you call yourself a man?
>>2941401Option B anon
>>2941401I built a gantry out of 4x4s and two 2x12s, along with some 2x4s and plywood for gussets to prevent racking. I had an 900 pound drill press up in the air without a problem.Eventually, I got myself a used lift truck like picture related. They can be rented also.
>>2941401I built a stout portable gantry (all steel, surplus steel is often easy to find) but they don't suit moving pallets which have nothing to grab being designed for forks. I barely use it and will likely make something else of the material. A delivery truck with a truck-mounted forklift is designed to unload pallets then place them as you describe. If you contact the brick company they might deliver direct with their forklift since this cannot be a new problem. https://donkeyforklift.com/If they have hydraulic drop-deck trailers for rent you could back the loads where they need to be then anchor a manual puller (the EU favorite is Tirfor, they're VERY nice) to a tree etc, run cable or log chain round the base of the pallet, lower the deck close to the ground then drive out from under the load. I've done that with cars, trucks and steel. Quick and easy if you read a bit about winching and rigging first.
you're delusional, OP.You are wanting to transport and unload 24 pallets by yourself with a rented truck... are you thinking 12 or 24 trips? a rented telehandler or all terrain forklift is what you need for unloading, you could possibly build a gantry crane but the crane will have to move to 24 different locations.do you even have level ground to store 24 pallets of stuff accessible by truck? what the hell are you trying to do?
>>2941401ass u me youre eurotrash. isnt there always several local guys with backhoes that are always driving around doing small contract projects here and there? ask around until you find one that has a set of pallet forls that hang on the bucket and hire him to unload your shit
>>2941447lifting a pallet of brick on not level ground with anything is a recipe for disaster, fyi.also driving out from under a pallet of bricks will most likely result in many bricks being damaged when the whole thing explodes when it hits the ground, that anon's suggestion is not what you want
>>2941401Zero space, zero equipment, zero skills, rented truck, this sounds like it will go well... You got your brick moving loicense at least?
>>2941401you can still see the license plate of the van, and the trailer is also easy to see
>>2941447I can take 3 pallets each trip, its 10min one way. Not totally crazy. I also dont need all bricks at once so I might split that in half.I have the space but I would want to drop the pallets onto the concrete slab where I need them.I reconsidered and I will hire someone to pour the concrete so I wont need to unload anything on grass.>>2941414Its just about 8000 bricks totally doable. But I want to cut down the time I would need to rent the small truck to save some money.SureI could buy a truck for that project but for the insurance I can rent one for two weeks.>>2941454Sorry I dont own a full set of construction equipment for a one time project.>>2941458Not my pic, stole it to show what I kind of want to do.>picrel is mine
The money you save on less truck time is just gonna be spent on whatever halfassed slapdash device you come up with.Just do it by hand. Recruit some friends.
>>2941825>Sorry I dont own a full set of construction equipment for a one time project. You should be.
>he hasnt met the neighborhood schizo with a dorklift yetmy preferred payments types are clean structural iron scrap and tooling oddities
>>2941910My direct neighbor has a small excavator and an old traktor, but no fork :(
>hired someone to pour>dont need bricks>im trying to do a grassy fieldwhat the fuck, OP.
>>2941841Most material delivery trucks do it this way now, haven't seen a crane truck in ages.
>>2941401Get a kei truck and let it kill you. Haha.
>>2941401go to home depot hire some illegal mexicans then about 30 minutes before theyre done call ICE and you dont have to pay them
>>2941447>telehandlerThese are so fun to use.
>soorey caint unload ye shit taday>gotta putz zee struts un mums carro de nipistan
>>2941910the 430 was a great machine. a couple "flaws" but otherwise awesome. the hydrostat idea really didn't take off on MX. great current production machines, but that one is hard to beat. 341/337 is probably the best Bobcat excavator ever made. normal closed center compensator valve with a variable displacement load compensating pump .If you have a service manual, do a pump test on every used Bobcat excavator. Not because you need to test it so much, but because there is no twist this fix that cure. The pump test is a process that fixes issues just by walking through it. Engine RPM, pump margin spool, torque limiter. minimum displacement, maximum displacement, etc. All things that need adjusted with time, but need done in a specific order. I used to upsell pump testing, people thought I replaced their engine from the change in performance.t. Bobcat tech for 20 years, white collar now
>>2946220appreciate the reply i didnt actively choose it for any reason except i chanced upon it sitting in the row of shame at a big contractors yard and got it for a song. its high hours and beat but still seems to functioni need to do the pump drive belt and reseal the swivel but am in no hurry to spend any money or time on it as i dont use it. i actually should go find it as i dumped it at a geezers place a year ago for him to use in exchange for indoor storage and havent been back sincei wasnt overly impressed with the build quality. everything is light compared to cat/kommiecat. the pins are small and theres no hard bushings anywhere so it needs vaginal rejuvenation bad on all its holes after 6500 hrs
>>2941401Rent a truck with hydraulic lifting platform + manual pallet jack + a few of those polymer boards for riding equipment on grass. Total cost for a day would be €250 plus fuel where I liveIt is by far the easiest option and probably cheapest. I’m all for dyiing stuff on diy but a makeshift 2 ton moveable crane will not save you any time or money.
i didn't read the thread but they make lifts that can attach to basic truck beds
>>2946256^This. Those ground protection mats are wonderful. I've been trying to score a few cheap used but they sell out quick.
