What's the best way to get good at picking locks? I've picked everything in my house a million times but I feel like I don't actually know how to pick any lock, like I've just sorta memorized the 8 or 10 locks I have. Do I buy some of these or should I get into pinning my own locks or something?

>>2943695Stealing bikes is fun tho!
>>2943686Get something like "The Revolver" or "Sidewinder" from sparrows. Those allow you to easily repin the lock to be as hard as you want.
>>2943686buy used lock lotscraigslist free locksbuy lots at auctionfind a fence with a bunch of locksjoin a lockpicking group that shares locksand then pick in every spare moment you have. it's literally just practice and muscle memory. I do it while camping, chilling at the park or waiting at the mechanic. basically anywhere you'd read a book you should be picking.also remember picking in the field is always harder as you're bent double, crouching or twisted and can't orient the lock or use it's motion in free space to pick. if you're going to do crime pick with gloves ALWAYS you should be revolted at the idea of touching a lock with bare fingies.
>>2943747you can repin locks without any special tools if you're not a spaz or a retard, retard
>>2943768Those are not "special tools". They are training locks that are designed to be really easy to repin. They also come with everything you need to repin them and collection of security pins etc.
>spend hundreds of hours learning to pick locks>in the end realize 99% of them are basically just for show and you can either hit a bypass on the lock entirely or just rake it open in 20 seconds with basically no skill
>>2943686Do actual locks I did the Reddit belt challenge but infound myself not being able to pick locks in the real world For Reddit you have perfect tension tools, lock is placed ideally in a 3d printed vise you had for ergonomics In the real world covert companion is about fucking useless too large to fit into small cramped places where most people jam locks You don’t really have enough tension to get a good top of key way sparrows wrench in there And forget about being able to use nice tools like the ones from southord max not enough room
>>2943698It’s easier to cut a unlock than it is to pick it upThose fucking things are disc detainers with a dead core The Bosnianbill dd pick I have makes it possible but not easy
>>2944070For me it's because I like puzzles and it's fun to imagine what's going on in the lock. I guess a benefit is you can pick or decode locks you lost the key for.
>>2943686The big secret in the lockpicking community is that its actually insanely easy. Everyone uses complete meme brands fot locks, even high value targets, which can be opened by essentielly just jamming the equivelent of a stick in. Download a pdf of MIT guide to lockpicking (its on annas archive), it teaches you everything. Then go ahead and purchase a lockpicking kit from this resource.https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YvUTOEiOUkqnNlUoIKyxd53dUafAm4fJ/htmlview
>>2944299>Download a pdf of MIT guide to lockpicking (its on annas archive),that thing is fucking ancient, surely there is better by now?
>>2944330It's gereatric, and there are other handbooks, but not much has changed and the information is so to the point and concise that it really doesn't matter. It's still great to this day.
>>2944346I'm so terrible at wording things lol. When I say not much has changed I mean the information in there is still extremely relevent as not much in it is different.
>>2943686I assume that you already know how different locks work. If not, start to learn about the mechanism behind it. Apart from that it's just experience. Get every lock you can get and just try it.
>>2944370The MIT handbook goes over each lock type in an intuitive and easily absorbale way. Honestly I encourage everyone to get into lockpicking. I cannot understate just how shockingly easy it is. Free money.
