Hi, folks. My toilet has an issue where it constantly filling the toilet bowl from the tank, causing it to refill a half inch in the tank every 15 minutes or so. I figured out that this orange rubber ring has gone soft and warped and needs to be replaced because it's not holding a seal. Thing is, I don't know what that's called. It takes up the spot that would normally be occupied by a flapper, but it seems to be a different mechanism.I tried to remove it but there is a piece that extends through that pipe into the exit hole that prevents that. I'm sure I can figure out how to do the repair, I just need to know what to actually type into google/youtube. Thanks.
>>2943995Can you show a better picutre of your toilet tank? There also stryrofoam in there which is lame. I assume thats in there to save water which makes your toilet less powerful and tree huggery. What you are showing in the picutre appears to be a toilet refill valve. You should buy a new one and install it.. while your at it get a whole kit and refurbish the entire toilet. This goes better when you order replacement parts for your specific brand and model of toilet. Sometimes the flush flapper has a different shape across different models of toilet and you'll need a specific one.

I assume thats in there to save water which makes your toilet less powerful and tree huggery. The foam is insulation which keeps the ceramic tank from getting as cold as the cold water refilling the tank. This prevents condensation dripping on the outside of the tank which can be significant if the water is very cold and the interior hot and humid.
