I'm poor so I have some hyper tough roll around toolboxes in my shop and on the go I use a Stanley black and yellow plastic one that I got at a yard sale for $5 full of misc chinkshit years ago.

I've got two "tool receptacles". as the pic, on the left a tool bag that should've been used to carry my college shit, but I did online uni so it hid in a closet for years. It now carries my electricity tools and the national normbook.On the right, my "stuff box", an old, dead brand toolbox to hold bits and ends. Chain and bolts to hold the front from opening every time I take the lid off are aftermarket mods. I have one of those cheapo stanley plastic toolboxes that stacks, box on top, the middle part holds small bits and bobs and the bottom roller bin has room for bigger items. I was a janitor for years and then worked at a property management company for a few more years doing odd jobs and some basic electrical. This just keeps all my stuff organized at home like 90% of my hand tools fit into these and I keep a few basics out in other spots for easy access, at work I used the husky tool backpack when going between buildings daily. Not a contractor so didn't abuse my tools much or warrent me getting more expensive options. If I ever stopped living in tiny apartments I'd probably invest in a proper tool chest of some sort just to have a place to lock everything up but I move a lot so keeping the weight down is more important till I find a place long term.

You can use the top of a toolbox as a bench but honestly it's not ideal, and if you've got the space I'd recommend a separate actual workbench, you can get them with adjustable height if you want and I've seen decent-looking ones on sale at HD/Lowe's for pretty reasonable prices during Black Friday etc.

i love the toughbuilt bag and pouches. they're lowes brand and they hardly even fucking sell them for some insane reason. i've had to buy all the various pouches aftermarket on ebay/offerup/amazon.the cliptech is super convenient and mountable anywhere. the big pouches have kickstands so you can unclip from belt and kickstand nearby. they're also built fantastically. absolutely fuckin kino
