How difficult would it be to remove this sink faucet and replace it with a new one? I want to replace this with one with a longer neck and uses a lever, similar to a faucet you'd find at a kitchen sink. Yes, I know this looks disgusting.
>>29471984 if the valves underneath are okay
>>2947198What is this, 1952?As for the difficulty let me put it this way, I was a neet for almost a decade and still managed to replace all the sink, bidet, and shower faucets without any issues.
>>2947198It is not difficult at all to chamge a faucet in most situations. Just buy the one you want amd install it.
I need a thin (sub 5mm) small 30x60mm quick release plate that I can glue something to either side of so I can quickly attach and detach a grip to the back of my phone. Alternatively, something like a T slot would also work, any ideas? I don't really want to use velcro or magnets.
>>2947257Glue a Lego baseplate to your phone.
>>2947260Man, that's actually a pretty great idea, thanks.
Hi, DIY, could you help me?I need to measure the time of an industrial conveyor belt. How would I do that?I'm thinking of putting a magnet on the conveyor belt and some kind of sensor to start and stop the timer.
I'm kinda maintenance retarded but I wanna learn how to be useful but idk how to become smart to maintanence stuff I just dont know how to get started
>>2947274Youtube and google how to fix whatever breaks.>>2947271Why make it that complicated? Put a piece of masking tape on the belt and use the stopwatch on your phone.Otherwise tachometers aren’t expensive. Put the piece of tape on a pulley that drives the belt, point the tach at it, do the math with RPM of pulley, size of pulley, length of belt and you will get a ratio of RPM of the pulley to revolutions of the belt.
I'm a subcontractor for a large multinational company, I'm new and not qualified neither is the older guy there, he has absolutely not enough knowledge to be leading the jobs we work. We take forever to finish a task that someone competent would complete much safer and faster yet here we are, moving from jobsite to jobsite with almost no oversight.I don't get it, foremen see us working and try to accommodate us, might make so snarky comments or call the office but no one from the company ever comes to see us at work and how incompetent we are.I don't get it, should I contact upper management, address this and force them to pair me with some capable or quit? It's becoming pathetic, others tradesmen probably joke between themselves about us.At this point all I try to do is making sure there's enough anchors and fixtures to make it safe, I don't care if it works properly or looks good.Is this normal? Are companies so deprived of workers they hire someone, give them carte blanche and just figure shit as they go? Do I resign? The job would be nice if I were learning the ropes the right way, do as I'm told, but as is today it's not a good environment. If my team leader had a functional brain he would tell the boss that he needs more time, training a experience before leading a team but he just accepts the responsibility and tries to make do without caring much for safety or the outcome.
>>2947276That's exactly what I want to avoid. there are 5 conveyor belts.Either I lose five employees for +/- 10 minutes,or I lose one employee for +/- 50 minutes on a simple task like pressing a stopwatch.
do you need to service a couple years old drill ive been using it an okay amount the chuck and stuff feels a little stiff
>>2947295Figure out the distance between the center of the rollers. Add (pi x r+(1/2 belt thickness)/2). Done
I want to model my own head.Is there a well known way of doing this?My first thoughts were:>1>stand in front of a spotlight and trace head profile onto sheet of paper using the shadow>use tracing as template to carve wooden block into head shape>2>cover face in saran wrap and stick straws up nose then paper machete face>flip over and repeat process for back of head>clamp both halves together and pour plaster in>3>measure rough head dimensions>cut them out of fabric>stitch together>stuff tightlyFor context, I like to make helmets for stuff like cosplay and airsoft/paintball and I'd like a model of my own head so I can get the dimensions more accurate from the start instead of trial-and-erroring my way to something that fits comfortably after 10+ iterations.
>>2946253So in the end I just pulled the thing apart and figured it out. Kinda neat looking at the internals, actually very simple.
>>2947280if the pay is good then stay. if you need the experience then move on.
What’s the difference between a route and a, my ESL-ass thinks, trimmer, like pic related? The trimmer is smaller and cheaper, but other than that, it appears like it’s the same tool? I wanna up my woodworking game and a router or trimmer seems like a logical update for getting into furniture making, but I’m not sure how to start. Pic related is about 50€, so it wouldn’t really matter if I realize it’s the wrong tool, but still, I I can avoid getting the wrong tool, I’d appreciate it.
>>2947271I worked for a conveyor manufacturer and we used these Testo tachys but there are cheaper models available. But if it has a somewhat reliable motor/drive just calculate it.
I am looking for a tiny widescreen display. About 1" tall and 1.78" wide would be best.
>>2947480>The trimmer is smaller and cheaper,And has less power. That's the difference.I use(d) my trimmer for kitchen counter-tops so I could get into corners better. My router is for heavier-duty cutting like making tongue-and-groove edges or profiling door frames, etc.I have a mid-size for recessing door hinges. The bit and guide stay in it at all times.
>>2947480Size, base plate, power. The only thing I don't like about my trim router is that the brushes burned out. It sees mostly edge chamfers and mortising door hardware. Larger routers are made for plunge cuts or mounting upside down in a router table.

What is this , why is it here , and how do I get rid of it ?It’s like a heavy wood ramp of sorts with bolts through it along the sides , like 6 inches thick. My current plan is to dig around it , use a chainsaw to cut it into smaller pieces and dispose of it that way
>>2947442Wage is shit but I'm not experienced so I doubt other companies will hire me for a similar job.
>>2947196I want to repaint the dash in my car but I do not want to use spray paint. What kind of paint can I use on those plastics?I also do not care about brush of roller marks because I plan to integrate them into the pattern I have in mind.
>>2947503Thank you, I will look into it.
>>2947560looks like an old crane matsomebody was probably tired of walking in the mud all winter there

How do I become a maintenance crafty good at stuff person
>>2947677Be smart, curious and handy. Barring that taking it apart and cleaning it fixes most things and if not you usually can trek what is broken and needs replaced in the process.
>>2947605Acrylic is fine if you clean it first.
>>2947560Looks like railroad ties. I'd Jack that shit up and pry it out then rinse it and put it on craigslist.
how easy is it to make an exchange at harbor freight the torque wrench I bought doesn't click
>>2947196I won a bid on a home that uses well water, the water softener looks rusted out so I know I need to replace at least that much but what else do I need to look at? The uh... Reserve(?) tank looks to be in decent shape. I don't think thje main home has gutters, the garage/workshop does though. Also, the subfloor needs replacing or at least to have a new layer of plywood built on top. Some research tells me that running drainage pipes to a sump, insulating the walls (or skirting in this case), and encapsulating the area is probably the way to go as long as there's no mold necessitating replacing beamsIs the thinking right here?
I just bought this place with a yard/garden that hasn't been tended to in a while. What tools/methods would you guys recommend for getting the vegetation under control? The goal is to get rid of pretty much everything but the non-overgrown grass and replant from there.
I keep accidentally setting my fridge to 6 causing my food to freeze. How do I mechanically and elegantly prevent this knob from being able to go above 5?
>>2947821and no it's not my pic but it's pretty much the same situation
>>2947821Set it to desired temp and then remove the knob.
>>2947815weedeateridk what a pro landscaping outfit would do to make the grass uniform. There's a good variety of weeds and voids. I'd want to take out the pavers to till it and seed it. Just weedeating everything down and ripping out the ivy before it takes off is ez. Turning areas into homogenous grass isn't as easy. >>2947821white duct tape
>>2947826Thanks Anon, that should be enough to get me started
>>2947747never mind I just went in, grabbed a new one off the shelf, and they did the exchange no problem without even a receipt
>>2947383I think I've settled on cutting some 2x12 lumber down into 9 segments, stacking them up, gluing them together, then carving the head out of the resulting cube, since I need about a 12x12x12 cube and nobody seems to sell that.
>>2947825>>2947826I want to be able to vary the temp setting, it just shouldnt go to 6. Something like this.
>>2947852There must be an internal stop because I can't rotate it fully. I should take it apart and see if I can't add another stop, similar to however the existing one works.
i live downstairs of a 2 seperate unit house. 5rooms upstairs, 5rooms downstairs. we had a pipe burst in my house. then it got fixed by landlords old chinese henchman. fastforward a few weeks and now im constantly hearing a 'waterhammer' noise from upstairs unit. sometimes affected by us running water. sometimes from them running water. i told landlord to send her guys to check it out. we ran the sinks a few times and got the noise to replicate, they said it was fine. well fastforward a week later and idk wat folks are doing upstairs but im hearing it louder and more aggressive. what do? wait for pipes to break and mold the house? water hmmer noise last about a second or maybe two at a time.noise is coming from rear end of house. upstairs kitchen is rear end of housei take it when the noise stops, thats my cue that the pipe has burst.should i look under crawl space for puddles of water or something?
>>2947821>>2947852
>>2947883most likely nothing will be damaged. my parents' house had water hammers and you could see the pipes jump but it's like 50 years old now and has never caused an issue.it's from shutting off the tap too fast and it's most likely they just left the repair hanging in the air instead of tying it to the house. different neighbors or a replaced sink with a fast shut off valve would be causes but it sounds like it's always hammered just never banged. if you can tie the pipe down somehow it will reduce the noise. can you get to the repair?

I'm trying to go nuclear with weed control on my gravel driveway. Why is Paraquat impossible for me to buy? Is there anywhere I can actually purchase this?
>>2947972because you'll kill all the squirrels, neighbors pets and maybe a kid. just use roundup it's literally what it's made for.
>>2947974I use the concentrate with a generous ratio, and they still come back. Also using Preen granules. Might just try spraying diesel out of my backpack sprayer.
soap bottle was almost empty so i added a couple oz of water so it would keep pumping. my partner said i ruined the cleaning ability of the soap by diluting it. "i turned it into water and now were just washing our hands with essential oils and fragrances and removing its sanitary functions"

so someone has a advice on how strong pipe liner are? Its for the main drain pipe I have no idea about the details but my drain pipe had a huge fucking hole in it through which gravel like in pic penetrated and the plumber fixed the pipe with the liner. I am wondering if I should remove the gravel or will nothing happen? The pipe is 5m deep below the gravel layer ontop isn't covered by anything its just a walking area right next to a house wall. The dude who did the work said not to care but that seems kinda strange to me. I got another dude to look at it but he agreed as well not to bother.I think the original hole happened because the retard that changed the water pipe which is 2m above the drainage used the pressure hammer and made some cracks in the old pipe (>50 year old I think) could that happen with the pipe lining as well?
