Is there a /diy/ friendly way to make an adjustable height desk? Ideally simple and mechanical, not electric. I just don't really trust the ready built frames that I see for sale and need something bigger and sturdier like pic rel because I plan to have a ton of computer equipment on it and mount my monitors.I know I can just use a cardboard box but I was hoping to make it pretty nice.
Look up "crank adjustable work bench" and you can probably do something similar
>>2950651some people use them because they believe they burn more calories by standing when they work. spoiler they don't.others use them because their back hurts when sitting.a "standing desk" is what is commonly known as "a work bench".

>>2950657I saw some of those. They all just look unstable, and small. I don't really see plain adjustable legs for sale.>>2950658Yeah my back hurts so sometimes I just lift up my monitors and keyboard on a box, it'd be nice to have something a little better, but every design has some pretty big drawbacks so I'm on the fence.
>>2950657>>2950658>>2950672Oops forgot I attached pic. I was considering how I could use a motorcycle jack. But I want the finished product to look nice, not some hack job
>>2950672You could always find plans similar to one and have a metal fabrication shop do the work.
>>2950678>have a metal fabrication shop do the workop is talking about using a cardboard box i doubt commercial work is in his budget if his pucel was 1.5x3x.065 tube there would be almost 150lbs @$2.25/lb plus whatever mechanism bullshit and throw in no drawings. no shop is even gonna touch it or toss up the fuck off quote price around $5keven with a plan it would be over $1k
>>2950682Thats why i suggested using a manual hand crank work bench, something basic af would be less than 200 dollars but OP is probably a gorilla
obviously needs 4 duff norton 50 ton screw jacks on the corners
Generally a meme for people with jobs requiring no physical exertion. Just build a desk of standing height and get a tall chair.
I found vid related which is pretty much what I had in mindhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiV_JJyvJzY
i bought my ex an electric adjustable standing desk for like $140 on amazon, put it together. plenty sturdy...>>2950685one of things not worth diying unless you want it to be exceptional for some reason
>>2950651any desk you build is probably going to cost more than a nice one you can buy.inb4 dis be diy!sometimes diying is knowing when not to diy.
>>2950651Drafting table. You can have a rachet, you can have nuts and long bolts, you can have holes and slots for springed pegs.
