is it a dumb idea to take off the vent of my electric dryer, and using some flex duct, heat my basement with it while I wait for a replacement part for my furnace to be delivered? making due with a few electric heaters right now, but watching this video gave me this idea
>>2952696>is it a dumb idea...
>>2952696>Is it a dumb idea to take off the vent of my electric dryerYes, very. The goal of the dryer vent is to get moisture out of your house.
>>2952696For a couple weeks? Fuck it, go for it, OP. I know there are houses in Alaska where they vent the dryer to the basement on purpose, how bad can it be?
>>2952703by virtue of the fact you're putting WET clothes in it. it's not a fucking dehumidifier by design.>>2952696lint. fucking lint would be why I wouldn't do it. but add a furnace filter and it's genius.
>>2952703>>2952711>>2952714guys, the dryer would be empty, the goal is to keep house warm, not do laundry
>>2952696>>2952757>using some flex duct>making due with a few electric heaters right nowHow would this be any getting than getting another space heater at Goodwill for the same price?
>>2952757>the goal is to keep house warm... does your house not have a real heating system?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gxbGD5f9ogThis is what OP is going on about.

>>2952780... did you not read the opening post?
>>2952792no :(
>>2952696Just put on a sweater, its not even that cold yet, why burn the electricity?
>>2952792Ain't nobody got time for that.
>>2952757Okay, so like I said, fucking go for it. Report back for shits and giggles.
Do NOT attempt this. I tried this for a few weeks when I was in the same situation, needed heat, redirected the flex duct, everything was going fine for several days… then it started happening. I would get woken up by the sound of loose change in the dryer, stumble out of bed to open it up, yet nothing was in there. One by one, all my socks started going missing. One morning, I woke up with a quarter inch of lint all over my body. I’m telling you man, don’t do it.
i wouldn't, but it is winter so do everything. infrared bulbs are directional in their heat, with infrared you're not wasting heat energy dumping it into literally everything.
