I made this shelf for flowers that is going to sit next to the windowsill. I like how it turned out overall, but I don't like the feet on the bottom. It's not stable enough without them, but I hate how they look.

What would be a nicer shape?

...alternatively what can I do differently?
>>
You could box in the base instead of having feet on the bottom.
>>

Put a panel on the back and take the feet off and put little circles on

Or just put triangles in the corners where your cross member meets the legs

little circles?

4 triangles? Will make it stable?
>>
>>2954987
Yes, very. It also means you can just recut and reuse the feet
>>
>>2954987
>>2954988
Just make it flush with the outside of the legs and the top of the crossmember

Very nice, thank you. I will do so and report back later.

You could mount your shelf to the house. It doesn't need to be a standing table.

Worked out great. It's absurdly stable, feels like it's grounded in concrete. I used the feet for the triangles. It looks a thousand times better aesthetically.

I also tried a mockup of putting triangles on the top shelf as well by using the bottom back triangles, but it didn't look good and it felt unnecessary. Stabilty is fantastic as it is.

I'd like to be able to move it for domestic reasons. Fixed doesn't work for me.

Round the corners of the top and the feet

Looks good, anon

You gonna stain it?
>>
>>2955075
Yup. One layer linseed oil, wait a day, one layer yacht varnish. Those two are my go to for wood and I'm very happy with the results. I'll post it after the second layer is applied.

Personally I'd put in more screws

Honestly impressed, it's rare where someone asks for advice and then takes it in and posts results
Kudos OP
>>
>>2955088
Thanks :D. Advice is great, but people usually get confused when several options are presented and it becomes an impasse. IMHO it's important to test stuff, I tried several things and the idea of that anon was the best one in practice in my humble opinion.

I can't understand why OP asked at all.
