I can't have a smoker in the apartment I'm in, but I badly want a smoker.
I am just enough of a redneck to know as long as your heat isn't that high you can make a smoker out of litterly anything that slows the smoke down from just blowing away.
Now the issue with all my designs is they still roll enough smoke to get the FD called on me.
I need to figure out a way to keep good air flow but reduce smoke coming out of the smoker.
Also it needs to be small. Like Webber kettle grill sized.

I am thinking a wet sponge or even wet wash clothes over a chimney might be the key.

Let me know what you all are thinking.
>>
You could try venting the smoke into a condenser of some kind. An exhaust tube running into a sealed ice chest might do the trick. If you set it up right you'd have some liquid smoke by-product that you could use or sell.

smoke in your parking lot. i did that at hotels when i was living in them in owia for like 4 months. invite buds and drink beers there if you're worried about it being stolen.
>>
>>2956078
Did this for 3 years. But the apartment I am in isn't the kind you want to hang around the parking lot and meet the people who come out when you drink.

But yeah great times had when I liked the people around me.
>>
i use a wet rag over my shop vac exhaust to collect dust
same concept should work
maybe a wetted sponge pushed into the exhaust would last longer
might have to rewet it every hour+
>>
>>2956082
What I am thinking is it's an air flow issue.
If I just do a sponge or wet rag I am guessing the smoke will find a new exit or clog up the sponge quicker than I expect due to back pressure and smother my embers.

I am thinking about just going for it and doing it with an old stock pot and coke can stuffed with pecan chips. Shit aint hard if you don't have to hide the smoke
>>
Woodchips on the heating element of your oven xD
>>
>>2956077
wait wait this gives me an idea

>>2956075
get liquid smoke and start boiling that shit, spray in the hallway, burn bacon in it until you get reported and the complex checks your place. then when everyone KNOWS you're a fucking idiot who can't cook and makes the place smell like a smoker, THEN install your unit and fire that shit up.

Fake being retarded untill everyone believes it, then do the retarded thing so everyone is fooled. Welcome to 4chan.

Don't you have a balcony you can barbecue on?
>>
>>2956075
are you the same dude trying to mount a handle on an 8lb sledge in his apartment?

Come on out we'll get you some room. There's two power poles that have transformers and the neighbor works for the power company and can probably get the transformer part hooked up. Park your trailer and we'll figure out how to get you hooked up to the gas well.

You'll need a modest trailer of some sort. And a sense of hoo ha. But if you want mummy's womb before all that, stay in the city as they rot. Not to be negative but a lot of growth requires not putting the cart before the horse. Apartments are for g4ys and f0ids.
>>
>>2956160
I have the balcony but no BBQ allowed. That's why it needs to be covert.
>>
>>2956162
Nothing you said is wrong, I want to move back out to the country.
>>
>>2956075
there is no way you can use a smoker in an apartment without someone finding out. the smell of smoke is very difficult to hide. the smoker produces carbon monoxide (even the electric ones).

this is another stupid idea.

how is it that this board get either stupid people wanting to diy? or stupid people who can't diy?
>>
>>2956282
I am in the apartment. The smoker would be outdoors.

This is a stupid post because you can't grasp obvious context.
>>
>>2956075
Smoke it while doing outdoor time wasting activity like fishing. Help with skeeters too.
>>
>>2956319
I do have a pond I could go too. And if I could keep it back pack sized this might work. I would not be on the property of my apartment but I don't see any questions getting asked. This might be the answer.
>>
>>2956210
Be the nightime smonker, torture your neighbours dreams of brisket and chicken
>>
>>2956291
no your stupid for wanting a "covert smoker" no such thing can be made. you're an idiot, posting an idiot question. go be retarded somewhere else.
>>
>>2956377
> Cant
Don't assume all people have the same limitations as you.

Well then, what r u waiting for? Do it! apartment dwelling destroys a man's soul.

Reburner. You need to look into how rocket stoves and rocket mass heaters work. They get hot enough to reburn the exhaust. May get to 2500 degrees though. Helluva fire hazard compared to burning down an apartment building where other gr0ids exist. That may be a good thing. But seriously are there Wht families there? Other Whts just existing paycheck to paycheck.

Like everyone else here said, you're doing it all wrong. Outside in a shed where if the worst happens is you burn it down with your diy gas chamber... well that's just some lost meat fibers.
>>
>>2956461
I use a pocket rocket on the back porch because it's small enough to hide. I just can't smoke up my meats man!
>>
>>2956075
I just got one of these auto-feed smokers on a huge clearance deal. It puts out significantly less smoke than my old traditional one. That said it's probably still too much and it's also a decent amount of work to run, coming from a traditional offset it's no big deal but it's not at all the braindead kind of thing a pellet grill is. (Which is why there are a lot of bad reviews.)
>>
>>2956499
Shit, forgot pic.
>>
>>2956499
The biggest issue with any electronic smokers is they are made to hot smoke, I mainly cold smoke. But good to know they make less smoke.
>>
>>2956075
Can't you smoke it somewhere else, like where you work?
I've moved quite a lot of private stuff into the office. I have my own private cooking niche, and herb, chive, and cherry tomato planters at the windows. A few old laptops I gathered are running Stable Diffusion there to make hentai. I call it expanding my living space.
>>
>>2956643
I 100% could find a place to do it if I wanted. I am just trying to maybe smoke up a little meat every now and again and it's much easier at home.
Asking a friend if I can come over and put my meats in a smoker for a few hours makes it sound like I don't want to just chill with them.
But I think going to a buds house might be the move.
>>
>>2956075
Maybe you can use longer pipes in order to disperse the smoke, it should be the same principle as the Russian Siberian ovens. You can also use a filter, cotton balls maybe, or you can try some pine branches, just make sure that the smoke is cold.
>>
>>2956740
...zuck?
>>
>>2956075
Why not just buy a GE indoor smoker
They aren't that expensive compared to the fine you'll get from the fire dept when your neighbors call them on you
>>
>>2957285
Actually not a bad idea. I'll check.
>>2957101
Cold smoke is all I do, it's not hard but I like how you think. The issue is cold smoke doesn't really rise so much interference in the smoke path can smother it. Really that is the crux of the issue. If I was hot smoking I could do this no problem .
>>
>>2956093
Hold on, I think you're on to something.
As long as OP has a decent exhaust fan above his stove/oven this could totally work.

Don't put the chips on the heating element. Get one of those wood chip boxes for propane grills. Put bottom rack on lowest setting, sit chip box above heating element and preheat the oven to a high enough temperature to get the chips smoking.
Then get your meat in there on the top rack above the chip box and reduce the oven temp.

Meat gets smoked in the oven, smoke goes out the exhaust fan to the roof. No-one's the wiser.
>>
Get one that you can mount outside your window.
>>
>>2959866
>get scrap minisplit
>gut it and fill with smoker guts
some ghost army shit right here
