I keep buying camera lenses and it has gotten to the point I actually need a way to store them.
All the commercial shit is soft cases or pelican cases, I just want to be able to store them in a small tote without them smashing into each other, I don't need to throw it out of a plane. Soft cases can work but if they are small enough they can slip between the dividers so it doesn't solve the problem.
I was thinking maybe like an ornament box, but the dividers look cardboard and would need to be like twice as deep for longer lenses.
Any ideas?
I was thinking take 2 liter bottles and cut the tops off and try and pack as many in a tote or box to keep the bottles in place from moving around.

Get some cube shelving and stage them all there with your camera equipment. Use that as a backdrop for you video blog on youtube

Start by finding the length of your longest lens and use that as the minimum depth for your case. Line them up in a grid pattern and figure out your other case dimensions. Do you plan on buying more yet? If so add a few more empty spots for future expansion. Look for a used pelican case on eBay that matches the dimensions you figured out. Hopefully you can find one full of foam and cut it to fit your lenses. Use a soup can or something smaller than the lenses to cut out cylindrical voids in the foam.

I'm not a gay videofag, I'm a stillfags.
I don't have anymore space to have stuff out like that, already had to put a lot of stuff away due to filling the bookshelves out.

I don't like dealing with foam nor need that level of protection, just to keep things from hitting each other in for example a drawer.

Well hell go to a place that sells carpet and get a cardboard tube that the lenses will fit in and then cut that up and glue them together into some honeycomb type of spacing to fill up a tote or drawer or whatever the fuck you want to put them in...

Or pvc pipe in the right diameter.

I use to put my lenses in socks to prevent them from clanking in my bag. Thick winter woolly socks or double socks as necessary.

I just had that idea last night while trying to put them away temporarily, if only underwear worked since I have too many pairs to wear them out.

I originally was thinking of PVC but didn't want to deal with cutting them up and prepping them. The cardboard does sound like a better idea.

all for diy ing this if you have materials lying around but if you plan on buying materials then consider just getting a tote for glasswear

That's good, I'll look for a coffee mug size one. I'm not so committed to autism like some that I have to build everything, but in this case I just couldn't think of something off the top of my head that would fit. Though it's obvious in retrospect like if you show someone you can use a .22 ammo case for storing 1/4 bits.

I am developing the same issue. I was thinking of using this site (https://www.tooltrace.ai/) and then cutting some foam on my cheap CNC machine. I was also thinking of using some of those under bed storage bins and organizing everything by mount type. My logic for using this setup is that it would allow me to store shorter lenses vertically and macros, telephotos & zooms horizontally, while also having slots for the cameras & accessories plus another one that's for one of those damprid things to manage humidity.

I used to be a professional photographer, huge piles of gear, 35 mm medium format and a view camera.

I got one of those zero heldbron cases to store big pile of it when I'm not using it but I don't travel or work out of it because it's just a thief magnet. I also used to have a piece of custom leather caseware from some famous European maker but I ended up selling it cuz I didn't use it as much as I thought it would
