A few days ago i started hearing like a scratching noise just above the ceiling. Its made with drywall just like pricrel and there are like 8 inches of fiberglass blown in insulation. This is a single home, there is nothing up there that could make that noise.
Idk what the fuck is that thing or how it got there, that space is literally a closed brick and cement box.
How do you deal with a problem like this? Poison? Hacking a hole and try to let out whatever the fuck that is?
>>
it's mice. put out a lot of traps.
>>

mouse can fit through a hole size of a pencil
unless you can get above it to set some traps (has to come out to feed) just have to wait it out hope its a one off.

i live in an old farmhouse. this is a continuous problem.
put poison and traps in your attic. get cats. prepare for dead mice to die in your walls and attract flies.

do not let it get so bad that you have rats.

I cant get up there because there is no access so i cant put traps. I have ordered in amazon one of those mini probe cameras and i am planning to drill some holes and put that probe through and try to see where this fucker got in.
But even then i can only hope to patch somehow the path it got and hope that catches him out so he doesnt get back in.
I dont really understand how this fucker can walk through that spongy fiberglass insulation. And what the fuck is he scratching stuff for?
I just dont like to use poison, i dont like poison around where i live but i have to find a solution.

They scratch to burrow, moving material, and they move their poops and food remains. Basically every night they clear the sleeping spot from whatever is there (they don’t want poop in their fur because it makes it easier for predators to smell them during the day). They love the warm side of any insulation because well, it’s warm during the night.

If you have a mouse problem the landlord or whoever does own the attic should fix it. If you own a house with a completely inaccessible attic well turns out that wasn’t the greatest idea ever was it? Anyway they don’t go through concrete, its very often the holes used to run cabling or pipes, any kind of ventilation hole or holes in wood (if paint gets damaged and wood stays wet it gets soft they can easily chew through it). If they don’t actually enter your house and you don’t want to cut a hole in the ceiling, the only good solution is find and close the hole

>get cats
I've always said, you can have cats or you can have rats
Pick one

>gets told mice can fit into pencil sized holes

Obviously through the ceiling so i can see where the actual hole that fucker is using to get in is.
Are you retarded?
I drilled 40mm holes in this fucker to blow in fiberglass insulation myself and i patched them afterwards, i know what i am doing.

To my memory, inspection cameras have terrible field and depth of view. I guess it depends on what model you're getting, but do you think you're going to find a pencil-sized hole which could easily be buried under insulation using an inspection camera in an area the size of your attic?
It would probably be easier to first check your roof flashing and vents to ensure that any purposeful openings to the attic space have screens to prevent entry by rodents.
Also, check your plumbing walls, something like nine times out of ten you'll have a gaping hole for a tiny pipe because the openings are usually hidden by cabinetry. Filling those voids with some foam will help keep things out what shouldn't be in.

Yes but if i can pick up the hole i will be good.
It looks very improbable though.

It's MICE!!!

Put small amount of peanut butter on the snap trap if you use snap traps (the best but if you put them in remote areas and can't see them, you can snap your fingers off). Or glue traps (best if you can't see them to retrieve them). You can put peanut butter on the glue traps in the center of them also.

I live in a farm house. It gets mice unfortunately. I kill them all and I'm good at it. Wear disposable gloves when handling the traps and the dead mice (and or mouse shit). Use a wet paper towel to dab up (do not crush) mouse shit. Put it all into a plastic bag immediately and dispose of. Tie the bag closed. Sandwich bags that are zip lock press close work good. Small, cheap, can be sealed. You don't want to be crushing mouse shit as they can carry deadly viruses...Hantavirus can happen, it just killed the wife of Gene Hackman Betsy Arakawa. She died from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. It's nasty!

Protip, if possible put the trap like a T to the wall where the top of the trap with the bait is AGAINST the wall. Metal snap trap part out from the wall. Mice use their whiskers to feel the wall and lead with their heads.

All those old corona virus masks are useful in this situation too since you don't want to inhale their shit particles. Not joking around with the potential to get fucked up by their droppings. It happens unfortunately. I also have bats sometimes and I have to treat them the same way. Rabies is another problem I have to deal with, with bats.

I should have posted this also when I samefagged myself. Make a map drawing of where you put all your traps. Eventually you'll forget and it's not fun feeling around in the dark and getting your toes or fingers snapped. Besides, when you DO catch this fucker (or other mice) you want to remove the carcasses as soon as possible before they stink and attract other bugs and knowing where all the traps are located helps keep you in a routine to check them all in case they get set off by the rodent but you didn't catch it. You'll need to reset them.

Oh and disposable plastic cuttlery knives work well for putting peanut butter bait on the bait part of the trap. I wouldn't be using your everyday cutlery. Not worth it. Also, don't use the peanut butter from your cupboard for double duty (mine and your eating). Get a cheap separate MOUSE ONLY peanut butter and write on it MICE USE ONLY. This prevents you from accidentally contaminating your breakfast peanut butter and fucking dying. Mice are your enemy, don't fuck around and cheap out. The damage they can do will cost a lot. Go nuclear on their asses with like 10-20 dollarstore snap traps. You get two in a pack FYI. Peanut butter $3-4, Traps $10-20 or just buy them incrementally as you go...

If you have mice now, you will get them in future most likely too until you can find the hole (s) into your mouse hotel, er home.

Hey, neighbor. That's just me getting comfortable.
>>
>>2963091
Op... think about it. You get an expensive camera and then what? Confirm its mice? Assuming you can operate said camera and find anything discernible in all that ceiling insulation and mess? Then what?

Nah, save your money. Buy a ladder, a drill and a disc cutter, find your nearest wooden slat and cut out a hole just overlapping it. Carefully remove plaster circle and keep for later, so you can screw it back onto the wood and plaster patch over later.

Empty a little ceiling space near the hole and insert mouse traps. Check on regularly. Rinse and repeat for months, probably. Meanwhile look for ingress points outside. Block them with patching cement. Remember, those fuckers only need a pencil sized hole.

Had the same problem myself.

I just fill a sandwich bag with some and snip the end, use it like a piping bag to put some on the traps. Don't need to dirty anything with mouse shit, don't need to buy special peanut butter for my gay pets that I need to kill.

a mouse or rat can fit through a hole the size of its head not a pencil.

this. you OP is wasting his time. if there is insulation it the walls or roof you won't see anything.
>>
>>2963464
You're still gay. You sound like you put the mice in the sandwich bag and jam it up your ass with your gay peanut butter.
>>

>>2963510
No I do it straightly when I jam up my rotted wretched hole. No condom bag either. My peanut butter is also straight. /diy'd/ with free peanuts scavenged from the roadhouse grill that I convince a tinder girl to take me on a date to. Then I have her drive me back to my fucked up mouse infested barn and have her watch me cutely use my sweet little peanut butter piping bags like I use when I make cute little straight diy cakes then I tell her to fuck off and go and kiss my gay bitch wife goodnight and go and slide rotting crushed mouse skulls into my putrid (but straight) hole.
Thanks.

Kek
It's skull* not head
Most mice can squeeze through a 1/4" opening before they're fully grown
