all the comercially available devices seem to have ultrasonic transducers and I had a handful of 40khz units and made them into an array and drive them with an arduino/L298N but havent tested it and dont know if it works.

There’s battery powered ones that activate when they sense loud noises like a dog bark, but that doesn’t stop the logs from dropping. Probably need some motion sensor to set it off.

Physical barriers are going to be the most effective but depending on where OP lives, might not be an option. It's common for front yard fences to be banned entirely and if not, be restricted to three or four feet of height (not a problem in this context since dogs usually don't piss and shit while hovering) and have setbacks from the street, especially for corner lots. These rules are less common and weakly enforced in bad neighborhoods, which it sounds like is what OP lives in.
