anons i need some help. No degree, 31, current job not bad but I dont care dedicating myself to it, instead I want to seriously learn some trade.I came across low voltage electrical+low voltage tech which sounds like something id like a lot, especially in the long term, im open to other work like it if anons know.Any anons know a good path to take for getting into something like this for a career? Id like to start an apprenticeship ASAP but not even sure how to find something like that where someone would take one with 0 experience. I also live in tge south USA where unions apprently suck, and I worry about having to stick around after an apprenticeship because I want to move 100% in like 5-6 years

>>2964702did you really have to go as far as slinging the f-slur my way? Just looking for a lil guidance anon, not a hand out. Also my dads gay but my other dad isnt.
In the US don't you have organizations that farm out apprentices to host companies? We've got them in Ausfail. We call them trade school or group training, registered training organization etc. You're employed by the trade school, get paid by the trade school, go to the trade school for 1 week a few times a year to learn the "modules" but you still work full time at a host employer getting on-the-job training. This is what I did, they didn't care how old you were. There was some dude in his mid 30's learning HVAC when I was there. The pay is dog shit however, for 4 years. You have to just suck it up.
>>2964696>I want to seriously learn some tradeyou're going to start as a helper. try to find some guy who does high end residential single family homes, that's where all the talented people are.t. south florida home builder
>>2964734well anon im kinda in that area, anything specific in what kinda guys/company I should check for. Im 100% willing to start as a helper in hopes for an apprenticeship. Im in sw fl
>>2964716>Just looking for a lil guidance anon, not a hand out.bullshit. like 90% of people who come here, you want to be spoon fed.
>>2964742im honestly just looking for some advice, such as what are good entry level/helper jobs that have a strong path into getting into an apprenticeship, regardless if its with whoever I start with. It seems low volt has a bunch of different things such as controls, electrical, interfacing, troubleshooting, fire alarms, security, etc... So not sure what are specifics I should try and find for an easier time on getting an actual apprenticeship started.
>>2964766Try HVAC, you can learn two things at once. I also want to get HVAC certificate after I finish college
>>2964696Have you talked to trade school?
>>2964696Working in a trade usually isn't about doing what you like
>>2964922not seeing much of a choice, college isnt an option right now and low volt seems right up my alley in a lot of ways. Its office shit or learning a real skill via trades. Trade sounds best in the 10-15 year range>>2964908sent some emails over the weekend, but I need a trade school with working apprenticeships/ojt, not simply or mostly class based
>>2964947If you are applying for trades cast a wide net and apply to several. apply to the low boltage, electricians, hvac, etc.. find a list of trades that you are able to apply or test for. you can try to start working as assistant with a handy man. It can take months to get a call. Your best bet is to know someone. I'm a mariner by trade.
>>2964716Yeah you wouldn't last a day in the trades, fruitcake.
