Due to personal circumstances, im currently living in a tiny bedroom with barely any space for anything. I have a desk, a nighstand, and my clothes mostly go under the bed in a plastic container
What are some tips and tricks for taking full advantage of such a small space? I was thinking of getting a custom-built shelf on top of the bed for storing some stuff, and then a tiny custom made bookshelf that fits the corner since theres a pillar right next to it

rather than figuring out the most efficient way to cram shit wherever you can look into minimalism and declutter your space. organizing is not decluttering, chances are that you're living with tons of garbage you convinced yourself you need when in reality you could lead a more intentional life with less

I put 1x2 in the front corners of similar vertical shelving, instead of closed sides. It's great.

Getting everything off the floor is always my first goal.

this

for several years and diff circumstances I've made various iterations of 4x8ft plywood Bunk Bed over Big Desk.

If you need a "no tools" and almost instant break down for nomadic reasons, as well as retaining full value (like could even return to store for refund lol) of materials.....

Buy 4 Saw Horses (I like plastic folders, but store bought wooden would do if that is your style) and two sheets of the strongest plywood they have. That might be 1.125" Subfloor, which is rough, but 3/4" finished will do.

You could and should secure this stuff together with a few wood screws to make it a single unit, but it could be done with ropes.

Test to figure out if plywood strong enough to not sag too much and reposition horses or if you are handy like me add some 2x3 under plywood.

Another variation is to use Wire Shelving units instead of horses, but 48x18" shelving is less than 48" in between posts, but they do sell 55" and bigger units.

I like to make a "U" cut out in the big desk, just to put more desk within easy reach and to keep chair out of the way.

If you are afraid of fall out when asleep, maybe some Bar Clamps. Would also make nice hangers for clothes. lol

PS-being handy, I like to router the edges and apply some clear poly or WTF finish.

One of the beauties of this system is you also have a nice set of TWIN big ass 4x8 PORTABLE tables you can deploy at moment's notice and carry on any car with roof racks.

Youtube vids on tiny houses and overland campers have tons of stuff. A lot of it is expensive, but you can get the concepts/ideas to DIY

I know you said you have storage totes under the bed, but is the bed on any kind of risers? That will get you more underbed space for larger totes.
