>rent townhome>share wall with neighbors>neigbors are hoarders and druggies>odors leak in through kitchen and basement>ruining my health, quality of life>air purifers dont do shit>tried plugging up holes where pipes enter with foam>stink still gets in>noticed air coming in through gaps where the carpet meets walls>try pulling that up>stink still gets in I’m about to go mad. It wasn’t as bad during the summer because I could leave the windows open, but it’s too cold now to do that without the heat running constantly. Landlord doesn’t care and I still have 6 months on my lease before I can get out.
>>2966532>tried plugging up holes where pipes enter with foam>stink still gets in>noticed air coming in through gaps where the carpet meets walls>try pulling that up>stink still gets in i had this exact problem, fortunately they were evicted but i nearly moved. i took up the carpet and sealed the floor and it STILL seeped in.welcome to being working class and poor, i'm no commie but we are in the shit, lad. suffer for 6 months and save like a jew so you have enough to move somewhere nice asap.
>>2966532>How to ventilate apartment during winter without jacking up heating costs?oh i thought of an answer after i posted and it is one that i use a lot as a fellow poor. i basically didn't turn on my heating last winter, fortunately it was a warm one but this was still necessary.>army surplus woolen jumper, with elbow reinforcements good for the workshop>woolen trench coat, also surplus>long wool sockswool is very warm and army surplus is super fucking cheap. you can often find those trench coats in charity shops or vintage shops for super cheap, i think i paid £15 for mine.
You wil most likely never be able to plug all crevices and holes. So to really have a chance you'd need t somehow build a higher airpressure in your apartment to basically press the stink up their holes again but for that new air needs to come in from somewhere and creating that pressure would also cost money and equipment. Another way would be to heat warmer than they do so your warm air would move to them instead of their warm stink moving to your colder apartment. But in the end there's always energy cost involved. So I guess your only realistic help would be to spend as much time somewhere else than in your apartment for the next 6 months. Basically only come home for sleeping.
>>2966539>didn't turn on my heating last winterhow do you shower in a freezing cold bathroom?
>>2966608>build a higher airpressure in your apartmentMaybe put a window fan blowing inwards in one room, turn off the heat to that room, and let it be cold in there in exchange for making the apartment higher air pressure
Could you seal the wall?
>>2966609quickly.or put the heating on for just a few minutes beforehand, warm it up for while you shower. i used to use an oil heater sparingly during my time of no heating in winter, it's an electric heater but for some reason it contains oil inside ???? it just works.
