I'm looking to get a new miter saw.The things I want are>portability>lightweight>features that can keep up with professional use ie a bevel and sliding mechanism>cordedRight now I've narrowed my options down to the Makita LS 0816F and the Metabo HPT C8FSESM. Both saws have an 8 1/2" blade which sounds good to me.The Makita is $544 and the Metabo HPT is $480. I've had good experiences with both brands although generally find Makita is a little better quality. What do you guys think?
I had the makita LS1018LNIt was a absolute pig of a unit, fucking heavy and unwieldy stickout far to the back. The internal laser sucks balls. It can cut enormous sizes, only plus side. Sold it for a DeWalt DWS774, the DeWalt is super compact and light, with a much better system (blade shadow to mark the cut place). Check what kind of stuff you want to cut, that determines what kind of machine you need.
