Had my second Dewalt drill fail on me in 9 years.Been itching to switch my air ratchet and impact out for electric for a while now, so while I have 0 cordless tools should I just fucking jump ship to Milwaukee or something else or stick with Dewalt?I do mostly motorcycle/car shit and home repairs and don't really care about torque ratings and RPMs, I care about:>build quality >a really nice controllable progressive trigger>soft stop>finger tight or anti-strip setting on impacts for running down small fasteners>360° lighting>quiet operation But most reviews don't mention that kind of shit.Any recommendations?I want to go all in on Ingersoll-Rand because their big impact is delightful to use but they only make like 3 other expensive tools and the compact drill sucks.>no I didn't break it trying to torque 24mm bolts I was just running them down. Randomly months later it just stalls 5x as easily as it used to on any battery
>>2969374check the brushes. 9 years is a long time for 18650's.clean the armature.

>>2969380This one is only 5 years old, both were brushless.>cheap DCD777C2Chuck ratcheting closure/pawl whatever broke and welded the chuck to the clutch because I could no longer move the jaws out of the way of the removal bolt>less cheap DCD791BStill technically works but suddenly has 1/4 the torque it used to, and only at half trigger, stalls instantly at full trigger and can't overcome clutch setting ~5 anymore. Sounds like a shot battery I know but I've tried 3 different batteries that work on someone else's drill just fine>>2969381I was just running down some lug nuts to finger tight, that picture was taken
>>2969383>was takenlast July, and it just crapped out last week
I've got a couple of milwaukee fuel M18 drills I've been using that are stalling out early similar to what you describe but not as bad... I've given them a pretty hot supper though. I have destroyed many drills in my life... Cordless, corded, and pneumatic. I should probably chuck them in the parts tote and break out one or two of the new ones I have stashed away. If I had to start over I'd honestly still go with milwaukee. They have a huge assortment of good tools on the same battery platform. Maybe not the absolute best in every single category, but always hitting near the top. Of course like anything these days quality has probably suffered due to chasing of the almighty dollar, but they're still overall good quality. Prices sometimes command a premium, but watch the sales and you can get some pretty good deals.
