helphow do i level it out without it tipping
drive backwards and boom down a bit
>>2969481This, in equal measure simultaneouslyIf you try to reverse without lowering at the same time it's just gonna drag it
>>2969475take this strap off firstdont be scared to lift it by the eyebolt in the ram only. slide the ram until it levels out
>>2969487>dont be scared to lift it by the eyebolt in the ram only. slide the ram until it levels out
plus flip the head all the wayforks under the ram with blocks to protect is rock solid
>>2969489Based Bridgeport mover. This is the way.
we eventually got it level, used a strap over the front to prevent it from tilting any more than it already has>>2969489i was retarded and didnt think i could rotate the head all the way because the markings only went to 90 degreesalso, lifting from under the ram is the way we wouldve done it but we're getting it through a fucking doorway and its too deep to do it that way
>>2969503forgot pic
and pic rel is the workshop im putting it into
a casualty
it is IN
>>2969505>>2969513safe passage granted under the rosary but somebodys losing their place of undisturbed prayer
>>2969515nah we put up crosses in every roomgot a dedicated prayer corner
>>2969475Guys I got a free milling machine!!! > fucks up fork lift > $3000 damage to building Guys it’s in!! I’m so excited!
>>2969475Not like pic rel lol. Almost got crushed by this fucker.
>>2969624>3k machine >4 half rotten 2x4swho could have possibly predicted this catastrophe?
>>2969628Actually 4 brand new 40x100mm timber that were used to lift it.
Somebody post the haas that fell over.
>>2969475>>2969624How do people suck so badly at moving heavy stuff? I mean op even had a proper telehandler and still almost fucked it up!
>>2969628It’s pine , of course it’ll hold up industrial equipment
>>2969639We dropped a Mori off a truck once, was fine sheet metal bent back with hammer dolly and tig weld seams
>>2969614nah we threaded that thing into the doorway like a god damn needleand im using this for actual production so theres a need for this specific machine instead of a 500 pound bench mill
How did the old guys do it?
>>2969808Bars, blocks, pipes, machine skates, winches etc.
>>2969505>>2969513>>2969797blessed.>>2969808do not overlook the eye bolt alone. also rollers, steel bars work well and crow bars to lever it along, though even some machine mover guys don't know how to lever properly to make something move where you want it. there is an art to it and it is counter-intuitive.>>2969509there's always one.>>2969703>How do people suck so badly at moving heavy stuff?op was not too bad, but to answer your question, people have never done things, they just buy everything or do nothing (scrolling on your phone is under the umbrella of "nothing") but even years ago before phones, most people had never done anything so they lack fundamental understanding of how things move, how weight will shift, they think they can just throw a rope on something and it will just lift because they have seen people lift things with rope.i once saw someone try to pull a large semi that was stuck in mud, with a normal ford transit van and a ratchet strap, the ratchet strap snapped and the van did nothing.>but i've seen people pull vehicles with other vehicles before, why didn't it work ?????a fundamental ignorance, which even i had once, was a lack of the awareness of how much detailed knowledge is required to do anything. not even lack of the knowledge itself but lack of awareness OF the knowledge required to do things.everything requires a lot of knowledge to do. op did ok, i have seen so much worse.
>>2969703in this case it was about getting it angled right, the way it sat on the pallet was too wide to fit in so we had to lift the individual machine
>>2969808like the eqyptians
>>2969703We moved it without any issues.Only bad choice was asking my brother for help. He decided, without my knowledge, when levelling it to run nut on feet in one corner all the way down to speed things up. Few turns on other feet later and weight shifted.Turns out 40 something year old chinesesium that is a ripoff of russian mill that is a rip off of german mill is quite tough, only needed to level the table.
>>2969835how does that not tip over at that angle? mine is so front heavy
>>2969975Knee all the way down table all the way back, head flipped and turret ran back as far as possible will shift a bunch of the weight lower and as far back as possible. Also when picking from the eye bolt alone you can do the same with your knee down and y axis as far back as it'll go and then run your turret forward and back to balance the weight below the eye bolt.
>>2969975Oh and it is tethered with the strap and come-a-long. Also I need to build a tilt deck trailer similar to that. Would be extremely handy.
>>2969639I wish I had the pics of our shop moving a Haas in. We rented a battleship-sized forklift that was ever so slightly underrated and had to use a smaller one, counterweighted with several workers hanging off the back, to assist in the lift. Once we got it back to the shop, it was more synchronized forklifting and then came the skidsteer to push (ram) the forklift up the incline into the shop. Supremely sketchy and I would not do it again.
>>2970182What does the Haas weigh?
>>2969835how do you do this if your machine is on a pickup and you only have 2x10s to make the incline it won't have a smooth transition
>>2969624bdsm play gone wrong
>>2970229About 13000lbs seems to be average
>>2969475i am a certified crane rigger. this just hurts my fucking feelings
>>2970518Same hereWhats your brain damage op
>>2970526Besides the ratchet strap fucking nightmare? Probably just not picking it from the top, from the base of the fork
>>2970530picking it up from the base was our original idea but the pallet was too wide for the door so we lifted itit worked all good and well
oof...now its scrap. it might work for a few hours at first
>>2971730what exactly did (you) see op break?
>>2971731The power switch, for one. And it looks like cast, so you can't weld it.
>has a picking eye on the top.>proceed to wrap it in a spiderweb of ratchet straps
>>2969624I dont understand how people like this run businesses and make money i just dont understand
>>2971854it's not what you know it's who you know
>>2969848german gnomes have some kinda patent on cutting metal with metal?
