Lost your marbles? Make some!
>>2970662How long to make a pair of testicle shaped/sized ones?
>>297070420-30 minutes
>I roll them into a cube
>>2970752thats right
What an incredible waste of time.
>>2970808in comparison to what?
>>2970662Now make a pillar
So is the reason it is made into a cube and then shaved away in order to preserve the layering of the clay and make the pattern more attractive? Otherwise why wouldn't you just roll out a ball?
>>2970824Just about anything. Like you spend hours polishing a ball of clay and then what? Do you do something with it? Does it even have any use? Does it even have any value?
>>2970835Sometimes the value of things is enjoying the time and the process to make it. Not everything has to be profit driven all the time rabbi.
>>2970662looks like a piece of wagyu beef
Pretty ebin
>>2970827That's right, the rolling process introduces a bit of mixing at the surface which muddles the colors
>>2971059Meant to post this one
>>2970662if you fire them at cone 018 it will keep most of the gloss (unlike higher cones) and will make them more durable.
>>2970836dangerously based
>>2970835Don’t forget, they buy the clay. They don’t even do it with fine dirt from the yard, they purchase the clay at the store. So it’s a waste of time and money
I prefer perfectly clear marbles that I can wrap in chainmail
breddy cool merbles
if you chain up your marbles then you won't lose them
>>2970662...or, you know, just buy them; it's not that they cost a fortune.
>>2972642>/di buy/
>>2972644Just as long as you're not asking someone else to do it for yourself...
THOSE WHO WRITE ON BATHROOM WALLSROLL THEIR SHIT IN LITTLE BALLSTHOSE WHO READ THESE WORDS OF WITEAT THOSE LITTLE BALLS OF SHIT
OP you coward, come back and compare our balls!
>>2973032Its ball inspection day!
>>2970662>Lost your marbles? No, but it would appear that you have...
>>2973178how do you do that tiny chainmail shit
>>2973198good eyesight and small pliers
>>2972563That's beautiful, very nice job dude
>>2971934Thanks for the tip, I was gonna feel it out with some of the ones I don't like as much, so I appreciate that.>>2972562>>2972563>>2972600>>2973178>>2973201>>2973032These are amazing, I'm very impressed by the work here and just how many you have. Have you considered doing some kind of encasement? I could see one of these in a ball of clear epoxy maybe, you could do it in a block and smooth them with a dremmel or file. >>2972667lol
>>2970662Why don't you make a large Dorodango?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorodango
>>2973325I can't believe this chinese basketball player is worth $1000!
>>2971060i guarantee you, these clay balls are a million times better, more beautiful and more useful than anything this anon >>2970808 does
>>2973361Thank you for the endorsement, to be fair (to myself) I would consider this a rather low-end skill compared to a lot of my other hobby pursuits
>>2973358Well of course. Bros never gonna be dunking
>>2973387no can dunk, but have good fundamentals
>>2973298>These are amazing, I'm very impressed by the work here and just how many you have. thank you, I was surprised so many were possible as well.>Have you considered doing some kind of encasement? I could see one of these in a ball of clear epoxy maybe, you could do it in a block and smooth them with a dremmel or file. This sort of idea comes up in chainmail a lot but I think a big part of the medium is the tactility. Each weave feels different and smoothing them out with epoxy would remove that whole aspect. Also I feel like the result would lose the delicate spindly aesthetic that the wire has alone. Here's one I worked on a little tonight. Already one of the more difficult ones and it's still not actually done.So is your clay harvested locally or store bought or what?
>>2973430Store bought. Is there a finite set of patterns to cover them like that?
>>2970808But posting here isn't? Faggot fortnite nigger.
>>2972494Why would you assume that in a DIY forum? That doesn't look like store bought clay.Sounds like you have betrayed your own lack of DIY.
>>2974040>Is there a finite set of patterns to cover them like that?that's what I'm trying to find out. There are always progressions of course but distinct weaves are almost certainly finite. Pic related shows the same weave but with rings doubled or not. When I was a kid we used to have a lot of crayfish chimneys in my yard that I would use for clay although we never fired any of it.
>>2972494Real clay is super cheap, mate. I wouldn't bat an eye at spending $30 for 50 lbs to make a bunch of big marbles. I certainly would rather browse the local art store to chat up all the weird, but cute art girls than destroy my landscaping and crawl around in rat shit.
