Has any of you managed to have current or former employers to pay for certification courses say in welding, rope access, aerial lift, first aid etc? If so how did you convince them? Thanks.

As an apprentice they sent me for telehandler training since the foreman was sick of an expensive journeyman sitting in the telehandler when a much more expendable first year could do it
Yes, everyone at my small company just got forklift certified, even the managers since they sometimes find themselves in the position of ordering other people to use forklifts. Telehandler and ariel certs aren't hard either.

>>2971014who else would pay for them? if i get told to do a job and i do it not being sertified its my boss who get fined not me. its in his intereset to give me all the certificates i can get my hands on.>quit my job and self employedvisited my old job just to talk shit and went home with a free refresh on my high pressure brazing certificate. they already had the inspector there cost them nothing to let me get it as well.this was once used to force employees to stay, boss said the certificate was company property. this has finally been settled in court, all certificates is the individual workers property regardless of who pays for it and they always get a private copy in addition to the company issued one.
