>Customer complained of weak fire and smoke backing up into the house
Basically every single square was stopped up when I first pulled it down. A bunch broke loose jostling it around on the way down the ladderWoodfire bros, check your shit so you don't burn your house down and/or die some kind of inhalation death
>>2971861I stop this by burning my wood stove with the door wide open while absolutely stocked full of wood once a week. The solution to chimney fires is to have routine, controlled chimney fires.
According to my grandma the last person to sweep our chimney was her dad, so that dates it to the 1950s, so I just burn firelogs in here on cold nights to try to alleviate the load on the gas furnace because the baseboard heaters suck ass at doing their job
>>2971861I am so very glad I'm capable of climbing on my roof and doing a basic bitch sweep of my chimney. I can burn whatever garbage I want and once a year I just deal with the soot myself for free.
I wanna make a inside chimmey unit for wood stove with lots of fins to exchange heat.people say it will collect junk so it would be removable and once a year take it outside and pour some gas and lite it off to burn itself clean.
>>2971888>baseboard heaters suck asssounds like something wrong with system, like clogged pipes etc.I hear fireplace can instead mostly suck warm air out the chimmey, not heat house.
>>2971908Collect heatsinks out of old electronics and attach them to your chimney
>>2971909Thankfully I have not a real fireplace but a big cast iron thing that feeds into the old chimney so I don't think it drafts much cold air
There's this firestation YT channel and most of it is chimney fires in the homes of retards that don't do the mandatory annual cleaning. Of course they are never charged with anything. This way it continues and they can use it as an argument for banning fireplaces.
>>2971959>chargesRight because your house burning down isn't punishment enough. You also need a fine that if unpaid will land you in jail if you can't pay because you lost everything. What made you like this? Mommy didn't love you? Daddy beat you daily? Are you an orphan raise by the cold bureaucratic hand of the government?
I burn random shit in here too just for fun
>>2971909>I hear fireplace can instead mostly suck warm air out the chimmey, not heat house.Well, some fireplaces heat the house more effectively than others (and given how much they can heat a room I wonder if a lot of the less effective ones may not have been intentionally designed that way so people can use them without turning an otherwise not all that cold room into a sauna), but I have a hard time imagining one so spectacularly awful that it ends up being a net negative. That'd have to be something truly special.
>>2971874I solve this by burning hardwood and sweeping my chimney once a year.
>>2971908Put the fins on the outside, not the inside. They will get hot and radiate the heat to your house.
>>2972051Man I bet you could cook a decent steak in there over some oak coals
>>2971888our house used to have a fireplace but it got demo'd in the remodel and as it turns out it was probably what was causing the house to sink in that area at first glance but it turned out the whole thing wasn't concrete, it was a sortof chicken wire with rocks concreted over it, completely hollow on the insideto describe it the best way I canIt looked like one of those modeled video game assets that's only supposed to be viewed from one angle and if you see the other side it ruins the illusion.
>>2972022the fire brigade puts out the fire dumbass, the house is still there
>>2972022Idiots gotta pay the idiot taxMaintain your shit
>>2972697hardware cloth and cement for decorative fireplace adornment is not unheard of
>>2972399That'd be fun to do someday, I just leave the grille in there in hopes it keeps any embers from flying up the chimney or whatever. It'll need cleaned for sure after all the firelogs and shit, but it's cast iron so it's probably not that hard.Man, if I can get the A-Ok from a chimney guy, and a bunch of firewood, I'd cook all sorts of shit in there...Probably a lot of hot dogs, just put em on a stick and shove em in the fire till they're black, heh.
>>2971909>I hear fireplace can instead mostly suck warm air out the chimmey, not heat house.I'd suggest standing in a room before the fire is going and then waiting a bit and continuing to stand there. It gets warmer. Don't want to spoil it for you, but...
>>2971908you have to keep the smoke warm not cold
