WTF DIY wears a watch

DESU, if I did I'd wear a woman's watch just because smaller

big "macho" seems height of gay and fem, in reality
>>

A wristwatch would be useful if you are roofing or doing anything where a phone might be a problem. But the post is just weird for this board and should be deleted.

You can buy an ebauche such as a 7750 or equivalent and make your own watch - thus bringing the topic on topic, as it were. There is also openmovement:

I work with machine tools so I can't wear one on my wrist when in the ship, so I rigged this up with an old Casio and a carabiner keychain thing that happened to be the right size.

these were scratched up to shit and had broken strap holes when i got them out of the fuck it bucket, so i fixed them up. top side was patched up with a 3d pen, bottom was beyond saving so i cut it out and replaced with a 3d printed part, plus some polish and a cheap band and they are back to being my daily driver. finding 22mm bands is so easy now with smartwatches around, used to be a nightmare when i wore those in high school.
the bottom side is supposed to hold a microsd, but i printed it too tight and couldn't be assed to reprint it so it's just got a niche o' potential slowly filling up with human dust.

There’s a genre of watches known as “tool watches”. It’s cool to see what people have on their wrists when swinging a hammer or whatever.

Didn't expect to see a thread here about that while I'm actually trying to DIY a watch.

Strap is from a Tissot, PCB from JLC, body milled on a CNC from Al, display is from an 0.96 inch OLED module

So fucking pissed. I have essentially this watch but with a shitty resin body. Springbar ripped the fuck out of the socket now I can't wear it anymore.

I contacted Casio, and the official casio repair company in north america, and they don't want to sell me the stainless steel case + crystal. I have the part number, nope. They are only willing to take in my watch, and repair it with another shit resin case.

Sell me the fucking metal one you fucking faggots. Fuck you.
>>
>>2980445
You mill it yourself?

This is me >>2981479

Do you install the crystal yourself?

G shock I got for Christmas awhile back. Has been awesome. Only downside is the minute marks are not painted with luminous paint so I can’t really tell the exact time at night. Thinking about doing it myself.

It's a $2 keychain that happened to be the right width for the lugs. I wear a shop apron when machining and have the watch clipped and tucked into the chest pocket since wearing a wristwatch while running machines is risky.

Myself long time Casio 3234 aficionado, my first one was indeed made of metal. But as I buy a new one every ten years or so, last have been all made of grey plastic, albeit nicely metal-coated.

>>2979432
Last I heard from them, their crowdfunding failed to get support for a prototype run. They need to work on ways to market their stuff to manufacturers and upstart watch brands.
>>2983279
Now start making parts of the watch. Dials aren't too bad

So far I've done blade cut cardstock (cricut), laser cut cardstock, and etched brass. I don't like the scorched edges that laser cut cardstock gives but it does let me get finer detail.
