These little mites exist on practically everything already and don’t cause bug bites. Not really. I realize I’m doin an awful lot of assuming here, but if it is bed bugs, an exterminator won’t do shit until you find one of them and put them in a plastic bag. When that unfortunate day comes, tell them you want Aprehend treatment. It’s a fungus that eradicates them by latching onto their bodies and having them bring the disease back to their nesting areas. It is devastatingly effective, and I wouldn’t recommend any other treatment on planet earth. It does take a couple more weeks to fully kill then all, but once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

It is very possible there is a delayed reaction from the bites and that's why you notice them during the day.

I bagged it immediately and squashed it. Sent the picture to an exterminator that had a good reputation in my city. If you’re in Chicago by chance I can’t recommend etotech pest control enough.But yeah they likely won’t do shit until you find an actual bug. Either that or if you have a bad enough infestation that they can find evidence of their existence. But usually if you’re that deep in the woods, you’d fucking know it. And yes, find someone that uses Aprehend. Do not use over the counter bullshit, it doesn’t work. Don’t use a national corporation for your exterminator needs either. Fuck Orkin and all of them. They will use some bullshit chemicals that don’t work. It has to be Aprehend. They are impossible to find when there are just one or two straggles that are torturing you. I flipped everything in my place. I live in a studio so there just wasn’t that many places they could possibly be, and despite tearing apart my mattress and bottom of my couch, I never ever found where they were hiding. Just got lucky, like I said. And found one dead after the Aprehend treatment, like a month later or whatever.The thing that sucks about Aprehend, is also the reason it works. The exterminator sprays a boundary around your bed or wherever else you hang out in the general vicinity. The bugs then have to crawl over this barrier, to use YOU as bait. This is when the fungus spores attaches to the bug’s body and then slowly kills them over the course of a few days. If your situation is like mine, they should be dead in another month or two. Sometimes people need a second treatment if the bed bugs mated and the new nymphs haven’t been “infected” yet.

>>2974996There’s a guy you can google “David’s bedbug passive monitors” that spends his entire life talking about bed bugs and shit on the bedbugs subreddit. He sells (expensive) monitors, but also has a ton of great information in general. You can say whatever you want about Reddit, I don’t care, that resource was a god send both mentally and intellectually in dealing with the problem. I never bought them cuz I didn’t want to wait however long shipping to the US would take, and for how expensive they were, but I got close several times. I bought bed bug monitors from Amazon and they didn’t do shit. Probably more effective if you have a legit infestation, instead of a few stragglers.Again, I’m not trying to scare you. I know how much it sucks. But being prepared and on top of it is better than wondering and panicking all of the time. If it is bed bugs, just know bro, they aren’t forever. And they can be defeated. It’s a lengthy process and can be expensive. But they can be defeated. I’ll keep checking this post periodically to answer any other questions you might have. And if you do ever find one, just do exactly what I’ve said so far. Also run everything you can through as high heat wash/dry cycle as you can. Get mattress covers and cover both your box spring and your mattress. Don’t use pillow covers anymore. Wash and dry your blankets as often as you can stand to do so. The drying is more important than the washing, so if you wanted to skip washing (after the first wash) and just dry them, that would be fine. Has to be high heat tho. The cold doesn’t really kill them. Unless you can capture them with a 100% certainty it’s all of them and put them in the freezer for a week, it doesn’t really work. They can be killed on sight easily, but that’s hardly helpful if there are more than one. And if you do ever end up getting aprehend it’s hard to say whether or not killing one that’s recently fed is a good idea.
>>2975093(Cont.)Because if you kill one that recently fed and has passed the Aprehend barrier, it is now infected like The Last of Us and so it will bring it back to its nest and spread the fungal disease. Which will lead to colony collapse. The downside, if it does get back to its nest, it may mate and a female can lay 7 eggs per day, and 200-500 eggs in her lifetime. So that’s a scary thought.Infected females don’t last very long, however, so they’d max out with a day or two of laying eggs. If they lay eggs at all. And those eggs are usually diseased as well, but it’s not 100% guaranteed the nymphs will die before their first feed. They too will become infected, but you can start to see how this can lead to a second or third treatment becoming necessary. Eventually the aprehend will win, it’s just a matter of how long will it take. For me, it was one treatment. Then maybe one more month of a bite here and there. Then months of becoming a schizo and thinking every single blemish or tickle was a new bite. But in reality, I probably stopped being bit a week or two after the first treatment. Even if it’s not bed bugs, it’s still good practice to start becoming a clean freak.

Terribly humiliating. If you live in a house tho, you won’t have that problem. They nest nearby your bed. They don’t travel around the house and spread, unless you’re like in end stage infestation and the only solution remaining is to burn the house down. Since you can’t find any evidence of them, you’re nowhere near that stage, and that’s good. It’s important you sleep in the same location every single night. If you change rooms, they will follow you, and you will spread them. Keep them in one room, at all costs, It sucks terribly, but you have to be the bait. There’s no way around it. Clean every day. Vacuum. Steam. Bag up all your clothes. Bag up blankets and towels you’re not using. It’s so much work. It’s like moving. I’m sorry. Nothing about it is fair. And it’s never the victim’s fault. You can be the cleanest person on earth and still get bed bugs. All it takes is for one male and one female to latch onto your clothes, backpack, luggage, whatever. It doesn’t mean you’re a dirty person. They sell little hot boxes that you can keep to put your clothes in to cook your clothes when you get home, and when you leave. Since my issue was light, I didn’t go that far, but for those with a really bad situation, it’s something you could consider. I don’t think your situation warrants it, but if you’re rich, why not. Until you find one, a professional almost certainly won’t do anything. But, you can have someone come and do an inspection. They know what to look for better than you do. Maybe they’ll find it.

It’s very expensive. They make your house like 120 degrees which kills any bugs exposed. The biggest issue, is that it’s not terribly difficult for the bugs to crawl into the walls and not get cooked. And again, all it takes is one male and one female to survive. But it can be effective in driving down the population so that chemical treatments can be more productive. It’s not forever.
