My kitchen didn’t come with an exhaust and the microwave recirculating fan isn’t cutting it. Want to run a duct through the ceiling and to the outside but don’t want to cut a hole in my roof. Found this YouTube video and pretty much exactly what I want to do. If the CFM is high enough from the fan, can I have my pipe go up, make a 90 degree in the attic, then another 90 down out of the soffit? Or should I consult an HVAC company. Not sure what kind of issue I could be creating with pressure. https://youtu.be/tDzsOKYaflg?si=hRxAh9AZ1_LHRktB
house built in the 70s, i have a similar setup whole neighborhood does, track homes. but i would recommend using a boot on the end of your exhaust ductl; builders didn't in my home and i found out during a remodel that grease had coated the back side of my drywall after years of cooking.
>>2975989get the biggest inline fan youre willing to spend for and go for it. eventually the low spots will end up with nasty goo grease lakes but the entire pipe will be throughly coated by then and its a case of replacing everything. but that will take years
Doesn't the attic have a vent? Just run the stove vent into the attic. Who cares if it stinks up there.
>>2975989you want as few (or zero) 90 degree bends in you exhaust vent as practical. you want smooth pipe.and for god sake don't do what this retard says >>2976012you will fill your attic with grease residue.bends, wrinkles, and any crevices in the conduit will fill with grease and dust over time.
>>2976026>you will fill your attic with grease residueSo we assume his kitchen is already filled with grease residue.
>>2975989Two long sweep 90°s are fine. You really want to go through the roof instead of the soffit. If you have any soffit venting, you’ll pull dirty, humid air back into the attic which is what you don’t want. Also, the duct work should be insulated at least R-8 so you don’t get moisture in the attic.
>>2976032You can see, monitor, and clean your kitchen. Putting grease into your plywood and insulation in the hottest part of your house is probably the dumbest thing I’ve seen suggested on this board.
>no 90 bendsnotOP, but you're saying if i did something like this at my house it would be bad?
>>2976106That would be totally fine.
>>2976087Add a 1 way dampener
>>2976026>and for god sake don't do what this retard says >>2976012I mean, there's a pretty solid solution to the "house has no outlet fan ducting" issue there.1: Route it though the attic.2: Attic gets impregnated with grease.3: Fire.4: Buy a house that has already has the pipes installed.
>>2976106That's how my neighborhood is built, fucking place stinks of curry whenever the neighbors cook.
