We have 7km of icy remote access road to sand. Any tips? I have got a F150 and a John Deere compact tractor. I was wondering if a dump trailer with a spreader gate would work for sanding. or would the sand come out too fast? Any recommendations?
just use your pocket sand
you're gonna need bigger equipment.have fun digging out your dump trailer when you inevitably bin itwho plows it?
>>2976337Just put on chains and wait for it to melt.
>>2976346I can't put chains on all of my vehicles. Need 24 7 emergency access. >>2976344Buying equipment is not out of the question. Pulling a dump trailer out of the woods would be fine. We have a mid size tractor. I'm asking about the dump trailer because it would be handy to have in the summer for earthwork, versus a tailgate mounted or PTO sander which is useless most of the time. I am the one who plows it, with a Degelman.
>>2976337Sand would come out way too fast with a dump trailer. You are going to need some sort of spreader that trickles it out and flings it.
>>2976337>dump truck with spreaderyeah but you need an attachment if you want to evenly distribute the sand. if you're handy you can probably throw something together
>>2976371you need an ex govt dump truck with a drop in sander and a plow on the front>emergency access roadif this is for a municipality you can probably put in to requisition a truck from surplus from another agency
>>2976337why dont you ask your boss? what the fuck
well, if you refuse to use chains, which are the tried and true tool for these conditions thats red flag number one and your flat contradiction that a stuck trailer full of sand would be an issue is red flag number twotheres a reasom every municipality that does this puts the heavy thing on something with drive wheelsrealistically, do you have any idea how much weight you are going to need?an 8 foot sander full weighs well over what a car does, and if you are trying to cover two miles thats a lot. you get a bigger truck, and put a big sander in it, or as the other anon said, ex municipal shit. it seems you have little experience with winterwhy is this your problem? is it a driveway?
>>2976371Why do you need 24/7 emergency access to a> icy remote access road?
>>2976466that's not holding enough sand for even a single 7km lane, you'll need AT LEAST 10 tons of sand...
>>2976474you could just park a pickup truck next to the slippery parts and throw sand with a shovel. Better yet, get a minion to stand in the truck bed and shovel the sand out. Who knows, maybe he'll work for sand.
>>2976474>Can you answer the fucking question or fuck off from the thread pleasei believe the saying goes>pound sand
>>2976466correct.so you're rich, and you had somone build you something fun 2+ miles in and now you cant even drive to your house best bet is good studded snow tires for someone who's retarded enough to type the phrase "snow tires are incompatable with their vehicles" and also again, after I say there's a reason ALL people who do this kinda thing put the heavy thing on a thing with drive wheels, then you bring up a dump trailer.too fuckin retarded to play with the nice things you grifted from the rest of us. Classy.I can put tire chains on one tire on the front axle and one tire on the back axle in under 10 minutes. I carry a sled so I dont have to get wet.im not retarded.you have vehicles that are "incompatible with tire chains" no, its you. you're retarded
>>297647010 tons is a full dual axle dump truck. get real, he wont need that much.a 250 and an 8 foot 2.5 yard sander would probably do this guy ok, but this whole thing is retarded. this guy doesnt know shit about winter
>>2976474have you ever used a dump trailer?it appears like you havent.if you cant put chains on a fuckin vehicle you definitely arent figuring out how to raise a bed in a controlled manner as you drive, and if you do, you're just gonna rip the dump bed off the trailer as you raise it up and get on a 5° angle without realizing itsanders dont go in trailersheavy trailers in winter are a no goweight abone your wheels that turn is essentialneck yourself
>>2976547he's talking about sanding 7km of road, he will most definitely need that much if he's sanding 2 lanes, more if there are steep slopes. if it's all perfectly straight & level road he can get by with 0.1 kg/m2 which is still ~5 tons.
>>2976474i answered the damn question, your baby trailer is too small and too stupid, get real tools or move to a city
>>2976572i already pointed out by the number you chose (20000 lbs) you know nothing. Not even how much room that takes updoubling down by repeating numbers AI gives you wont matter. you said 10 tons, thats retarded and even if most people have to spread that much, they would do it with a couple loads in a much smaller unit. like say a 250 with a 2.5 yard spreader in the back. payload of the truck is about 4 thousand pounds, and that full will put the truck about a third over capacity when its full. ballpark reasonable for something thats gonna crawl.you're a tool, anon. if you dont actually know, shut the fuck up.it was more obvious when idiots like you just copied and pasted forum posts rather than pretended with your fuckin chatbotsyou and the OP are peas in a pod
>>2976688>stupid retarded amerifat thinks i'm talking bed volume>in m2, not m3when your thermometer reads -38°C we can talk about road condition and how to fix it.
>>2976690are you trying to imply I misunderstood your phrasing of 10 tons? fuck you, loser. your post is nothing short of mentap gymnastics.
oh haha look OP deleted a bunch of posts lol. so, how famous or rich were they?
>>2976337Get a guy with a shovel to through sand from the back of the truck.
>>2977574>through*throw
