How fleeced do you get paying someone else to put it together?I worked for a guy who built these but I only lasted like 2 weeks on the job before getting hurt so I didn't get to see much of the process.

After googling some more apparently these count as a "manufactured house" and only last around 50 years and then the wood starts rotting. So that's kind of a bummer. I figured they would be more durable than the drywall and vinyl thing just because they look old timey.

>>2977953If you want to feel like you live inside something as sturdy as a bank vault, log cabins do it. It won't protect you from nature, as bears do not respect the pristine condition of your doors and windows. Logs are good as noise insulation if you find yourself closer to the highway than you would prefer, but they don't really keep the cold out. Lumber will eventually be a home for termites; You will need a good annual contract to coat the home with protective substances and be inspected. Of course you can say that about most normal wood frame homes. If you want a place that is catnip for vacation renters, it's hard to do better than a log cabin, but it means you pretty much don't get to live there.

They're super heavy and overnight. You n have this outside layer of logs then a layer of insulation and drywall and 2x4 hlframed walls like anything else.Almost like a British brick facade envelope
they are awesome for cold dry environments. any humidity or constant rain and they suck. that's pretty much it.

The owner just went behind me filling up all the gaps with this glue stuff with a grim expression on his face.
