What's the best floodlight/security camera without subscription fees? I need to buy two for my house.
>>
>>2979049
Reolink isn't the "best", but they are good budget cameras. I have 2 cameras from them and so far they're working well, their person/car/animal detection is also decent.
>>
>>2979065
they are the best by virtue of being one of the few major suppliers that don't abuse their position to spy on you.

I've had this Eufy for a year and I like it. No monthly fee. It records the entire front of my property, and lights up nice and bright when movement is detected. It's hardwired and I paid an electrician to install it because it's high over my garage and I'm not a fan of heights.

Do these use infrared?
>>
>>2979358
They usually have both, then you can set if you want to use only one, or both. The floodlights are stronger than the IR lights on the floodlight models.

How are their video doorbells? The HOA here are absolutely retarded boomers and this is the only type of "surveillance devices" that they will allow, and even that only after a pain in the ass approval process.
Any models (from other brands, too) that can be hard wired both power and network, not talk to the Internet other than to allow direct feed (not via "cloud" or other manufacturer's infrastructure) to an app, not require subscription of any kind, and just record to any networked hard drive?
>>
>>2979382
There has to be some law or regulation that allows you to record regardless of the HOA bylaws.

>Best Floodlight
for fucks sake! DEFINE BEST!

there is no single best anything.
>>
>>2979158
as far as you know.

>The HOA here are absolutely retarded boomers and this is the only type of "surveillance devices" that they will allow
get good.

>as far as you know.
You can completely isolate them from the internet.
>>

In the US I am allowed to take pictures or video of your property anytime I wish, provided it's from either a public place or another area that I have permission to be on. It stands to reason that you are also allowed to take pictures/video of your property as well, especially since you are probably giving yourself permission to photograph your property.

>Any models (from other brands, too) that can be hard wired both power and network,
Most IP cameras over $100 support PoE (Power over Ethernet). Check the data sheet to make sure it mentions PoE or "802.11af/at".

>not talk to the Internet other than to allow direct feed (not via "cloud" or other manufacturer's infrastructure)
Again, most cameras over $100 support administration over a local web server running on the camera.

>to an app,
Here it gets a bit tricky. The camera should support ONVIF and you should have ONVIF capable software (or an ONVIF capable NVR) to talk to it. Vendor software is usually horrible. Sometimes stuff like PTZ is only supported through the vendor's native control software and/or the web interface.

>not require subscription of any kind,
Most cameras over $100. Also, avoid CHEEKY CHINESE ALL CAPS BRAND NAMES on Amazon. Regular capitalization Chinese brands such as Dahuha, Hikvision, or Reolink usually have cloudy shit but it's optional. Also any American consumer stuff, such as Ring is absolute cancer. If you insist on Western "made" (yeah, they totally don't have factories in China, pinky swear), use Axis or Bosch. They'll cost a pretty penny, though.

>and just record to any networked hard drive?
I'd go with a dedicated NVR. Costs about $200 for one that can handle 8 cameras at 5MP resolution. Plus hard drives of course. NAS vendors such as Synology or QNAP will jew you with additional licenses and subscriptions if you want the device to record the stream from more than a handful of cameras.

I have their video doorbell and it's great so far. I didn't want to run cat6 to my door (what a bitch that would be) so it runs off the old doorbell power connection and uses wifi. Wifi isn't ideal for security cameras but hey, it does the job and I'm happy with it.

>I need to buy
do you really NEED to buy a floodlight or are you a paranoid boomer faggot who thinks "muh light = muh safety" and feels like turning your shitty house nobody would break into anyways into a fucking beacon of light pollution because you're a pussy bitch?
protip your neighbors are gonna fucking hate your faggot ass for forcing them to get blackout curtains.
I hope your ass gets robbed anyways.
faggot.

I work for a company that does camera system installs (as well as many other things). I handle the IT side of things. Someone else runs the wires and mounts the cameras, I setup the rack, configure the switch, configure the NVR, and train the user. We use Axis. Some of their cameras are batshit insane in what they can do.

>>2979382
That sounds like my kind of system. 'Cloud' is bullshit. Wireless is bullshit. Power over Ethernet with an onsite NVR is what we use. POE switches are reasonably priced and it means you only need one wire per camera. You can also use POE injectors if you only want to add a few cameras to an existing network without replacing a switch. All of the cameras we sell have a secure web page you can pull up to view the feed directly. So, you don't *need* the NVR, especially if you don't need recordings or you want to DIY something.

HOAs are often in private neighborhoods. As they are not public, your rights end at your property line. So, if the road or someone else's house is visible in the video they have grounds to fine you. You can also expect them to require you to prove your cameras aren't capturing anyone else's stuff. Regularly. Basically as annoyingly often as they can require. They can also get you other ways. They can claim the cameras are 'unsightly' and fine you for that. So, not only can you not use them to view anything outside of your property but you have to hide them so no one can see them either. That makes it difficult to get usable angles on intruders to capture faces or licenses plates. it ain't very helpful to hand over a video to the police and all they can tell is the intruder has a bald spot or the roof of their car is dirty.

>>2979425
This guy gets it.
>>
>>2979425
I won't buy any camera that requires an app, and/or does not support onvif.

app only cameras are trash.

>protip your neighbors are gonna fucking hate your faggot ass for forcing them to get blackout curtains
dude... NTA, I live in a pretty well to do neighborhood. almost no one here has windows what are open. driving around at night you would swear no one was home anywhere. no light comes out from anyone's homes.
>>
>>2979163
How much did you pay the electrician?
>>
>>2979049
I have 2 of these and like them a lot, they work great
>>
do not aim them at your neighbors, they're bright as fuck
>>
>>2979460
Are you the same schizoid who keeps spamming /g/ with threads about how LEDs are evil and "break circadian rhythms" while boomerposting about sodium lamps?
>>
>>2979049
