why do some people hate these again?

>muh its expensive

so is thumb reattachment surgery dipshit

these are good if you're a retarded youtuber who's never worked around power tools before

stay alert. be aware of exactly where the blade, your hands, the workpiece, and any offcuts you're going to produce are and will be throughout the cut.
pause before every cut and focus yourself. use a push stick/block, featherboard, a jig, a sled, anything and everything at your disposal. that's the only proper way to use a table saw. table saws do not forgive lapses in concentration.

relying on nanny bullshit like this, lane keep assist in cars, it's all MORE dangerous because it makes you complacent.

Employers don't trust their workers.
>>
>>2979452
Well you either need it or you don't. Most of the cutting I do on my tablesaw is about 90% on a sled just knocking out right angles until I pray for death, so I just don't have hands or fingers anywhere near the blade, even stuff like long parallel rips of boards is pretty safe with some sticks to poke it along.

They are expensive for what you get, they ruin blades (which are themselves expensive*), the machine is then down until you replace the stopping mechanism (which is also expensive), and the company is run by a bunch of assholes. They have been suing anyone that tries to create anything similar even if it doesn't infringing on their patents (strategic litigation). This means they don't have to improve their own technology. Their tech is also half-assed. It can be set off by cutting green wood, for example. They also have been trying to get legislation passed that would require all business to use saws with similar tech. As they are the only company making them and are actively suing anyone else that tries, they are basically trying to use safety as a way to support their anti-competitive behavior.

*Professionals that use cabinet saws don't put el cheapo Diablo blades in them.

the only way to ger hurt on this thing is if you're a retarded furniture maker with a youtube channel pretending you're operating a router or if the machine catapults a board into your abdomen, which this stupid sawstop doesn't protect against.
>>
>>2979485

That doesn't happen unless you take off the other safety devices off the saw such as the guard that prevents kickback and don't use the proper tools to push the wood thru the blade. The saw stop is only meant to stop your fingers from getting mutilated it doesn't replace other safety devices you should also be using.

This, no one wants to use a kike's product
>>
>>2979497
Lol, yeah, i never thought of that… the the op’s picrel has a tablesaw guard and probably riving knife built-in.
I’m guessing if the tech were all that great you wouldn’t need those.
>>
>>2979502

being the best at woodworking doesnt mean you should give up safety. even the best experts can get hurt or make mistakes. I know when they showed stuff like this on TV like on new yankee workshop they removed the guards so they could film, but you still have to be 100% focused on what you are doing if you are going to take the safety devices off, and if you get hurt you have nobody but yourself to blame!
>>
Does it work for weiner too?
>>
>>2979452
I mean, there is a fair argument about how litigious they are, and a couple years ago they tried to talk the CPSC into forcing all new table saws to have a similar safety system by dangling making the key central patent public domain, but only if they made the rule law. It's why the Bosch Reaxx was pulled from the market before seeing any real sales.

That said, as table saws they are excellent machines, and the safety system is reliable and does work. You're just going to pay a premium for them, with the tabletop model running for as much as the DeWalt Jobsite, and the jobsite that's the lowest you can buy that takes Dado stacks having an outdated design and costing $1000 more than the DW. A Laguna cabinet with 30" rip is $600 less than the Sawstop 30" contractor and $200 less than the jobsite.

Who the hell uses a tablesaw like this?

not that guy anymore

"Well, see, I figured if it kicks back while I push it from the right side it sends the piece at me..."
>>
>>2979523
What the hell am I looking at?
What was the plan here?
And what is he using? It looks kinda table saw-ish, but the table part appears to be made out of plastic, with holes (for stuff to catch on?), where even cheap crap has the decency to use smooth metal. Also, the fact that gets what ought to be a running saw blade into his crotch and he just walks around like nothing happened doesn’t really fit with a table saw.
>>

Ryobi BTS10, from the old days when table saws didn't have riving knives.
>>
>>2979628
It also looks like he took the fence off because it just couldn't go wide enough for the cut.
>>
>>2979633
Mr Nosenberg saved at least a dollar on each unit made without a riving knife
>then all the shareholders clapped!

Watching the odd working the wood vid on youtube over the years you also see a lot of lazy and stupid fucks out there that don't adjust their blade depth. It only takes a few seconds to drop the blade down so its about a quarter inch over the height of the work piece and that will help quite a bit from having timber sneaking around behind the back of the blade, then being shot at sanic speeds into their cunt
But I guess having 3" of exposed blade makes for engaging footage

They should be, but they are mindless insects, so that counteracts the self preservation instinct.
