My dad used to love these things. Used to just want to go up and touch one. He was a teacher and would sometimes just ramble on about them. And how far away is the dozer from the bad part of the road? 10 miles? 20 miles? You gonna track it there or load it onto a lowboy? Graders have extreme mobility compared to dozers and the new ones will do 40mph quite easily.

If you can afford to have equipment sitting idle for that long, you can probably afford to lease it when you need it.I've worked in and around the construction biz for years and I'm amazed at how many business owners just look for excuses to acquire neat toys and tie up capital. Dozers and loaders have many more uses and are better purchased. But graders excell at the one thing they do.

GPS equipment machines have took a lot of their jobs but municipalities love them for maintaining shoulders because you can just drive it to a job instead of requiring a truck to get it there. Plus they can move snow pretty good so they're year round machines.
