>it's loud as fuck>it leaks water everywhere>the freezer is covered in ice every two business days>it uses more power than your actual fridge>things in freezer melt while soda cans freeze and explode>did i mention IT'S LOUD AS FUCK>impossible to ship without being covered in dents>breaks in 3 months or 3 years>$2k commercial grade with minimum buy order of 10 if you want decent qualityWhy are mini fridges so shitty?
>>2980465I've got a little $80 piece of shit from Ollie's that is none of those things.

>>2980465Because they use bottom barrel components to get price points that the typical mini fridge customer base, college kids and live at home adults, can afford. If you want one with longevity, get midea or frigidaire. Better known for their air conditioners, they at least source decent quality compressors with a few years of life expectancy. If you're willing to spend more, dometic is big in the RV/van life/Overlanding crowd, but their units are usually $1k+ (and are shaped like an ice chest rather than a conventional refrigerator). I've also heard from a lot of people in that crowd that ICECO is considered the budget dometic and of similar quality, though their coolers still come in the $500-1000 price range depending on the size & features you opt for. Both brands are always 12v/120v compatible and come with the corresponding power cables.
>>2980465There's mini fridges using peltier elements which are silent. They're used in hotel minibars. They're way less efficient though.
>>2980465Because theyre cheap as shit.
